Your new role
The open role is for a Project Manager / Construction Manager reporting to the VP of Construction who will assist in the development and construction of industrial facilities in the Greater Toronto Area. They will ensure site readiness, including but not limited to premises construction, infrastructure preparedness, all required licensing and permitting to ensure speed to market. This role will play an integral part in our client's footprint across North America. The PM will work with consultants to prepare tenders and monitor construction progress. They will develop budgets and provide scheduling to ensure milestones are hit, develop and implement quality control measures, be the point of contact for all regulatory body inspections and have the ability to ensure resolution of any challenges in real time. Finally, they will work internally with the legal, asset management and construction teams, as well as externally with trades, contractors and other invested stakeholders.
What you'll need to succeed
The Project Manager / Construction Manager will have at least 5 years as a Project Coordinator and/or Project Manager working on industrial projects (both light and heavy) in the Greater Toronto Area. They must be a strong communicator with the ability to work with internal and external stakeholders, and negotiate with general contractors, property owners and city officials as needed. They will be dependable and reliable and be highly adaptable and comfortable working in situations without a defined structure. They must be able to understand licensing and permits, read construction drawings and blueprints, and be able to work on multiple projects at a time. Some travel is required, and you must be able to travel to the USA once a year. Experience with Yardi and Procore is a definite asset.
