Your Role in Supporting Our Members:

As an Accountant, Financial Accounting, you will perform full cycle accounting activities across Vancity and its subsidiaries to support accurate and timely financial reporting. You will play a key role in preparing financial statements, completing reconciliations, and supporting external audits while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure financial integrity. We are seeking a detail-oriented finance professional with strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of accounting practices within a complex financial services environment

This is a Full-time, Permanent role based at our Vancity head office and will report directly to the Manager, Financial Accounting. While this position provides a hybrid work arrangement, you will be expected to be on-site for events and business demands

How You'll Make an Impact:

Performing full cycle accounting for assigned subsidiaries, business lines, and intercompany and consolidation elimination transactions

Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting working papers

Completing general ledger reconciliations and detailed financial analysis

Accounting for investments, derivatives, borrowings, accruals, and prepaid expenses

Validating financial data within investment and derivative systems and reviewing related contracts

Supporting the preparation of annual financial statements and related disclosures

Preparing accounting and tax information required for external audits and responding to auditor inquiries

Collaborating with project teams and IT to enhance and implement finance systems

What You’ll Bring to the Team:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

Professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CGA, or CMA) or in progress

3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within financial services

Strong knowledge of full cycle accounting and financial reporting processes

Experience with general ledger reconciliations and financial analysis

Familiarity with investments, derivatives, or complex financial instruments is an asset

Solid understanding of accounting systems, policies, and procedures

Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills

Extra Skills That Set You Apart:

Experience supporting external audits in a regulated environment

Exposure to financial system implementations or upgrades

What You’ll Earn:

This role offers a salary range of $69,700 to $90,200 per annum. The base pay offered may vary depending on factors such as relevant qualifications, skills, previous experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards package, employees may also be eligible for our annual incentive program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
