Location: This hybrid role requires 2-3 days on-site at our Burnaby, BC office.

What You’ll Do
The Data Analyst delivers Power BI visualizations and dashboards that tell a story using data, drive action, and deliver value to the business. You work within a cross-functional product team, with support from product owners, business analysts, data engineers and data scientists where needed. You will also support the business in the transformation by contributing towards beginners’ sessions, drop-ins, and show-and-tell sessions demonstrating the capability of Power BI and wider visualization best practice.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver:
Work with stakeholders and other data team colleagues to understand the data and insights needed to address business questions and challenges
Use visualization techniques to tell data stories, delivering insight to the business in a compelling way
Design and implement analytics reporting dashboards and visualizations using SQL and Power BI
Work with engineers to model, reshape and prepare data to optimize dashboard performance
Collaborate within the wider Data Team and Technology where required for the successful end-to-end delivery of the analytics solution
Work with business end-users to ensure the best user experience
Manage stakeholder expectations on analytical work by providing regular written and verbal communications, building trust, and forming close working relationships
Transform:
Be a subject matter expert in visualization and Power BI
Continually improve your own knowledge, including participating in the Specsavers data visualization and storytelling training programme, and other training events
Share your knowledge with less experienced colleagues
Keep up to date on the latest analytics & visualization innovation, share ideas and highlight opportunities to adopt them
Encourage use of data visualization and storytelling in decision making
What We’re Looking For
3-5 years of experience as a Data Analyst across the data lifecycle, from data modelling and transformation to visualization and analytics, leveraging SQL, Power BI, Databricks, and related tools.
Experience manipulating. transforming and cleansing data, and building compelling visualizations, ideally in Power BI
Experience delivering reports, dashboards, or visualization projects in a business context
Intermediate SQL for analytics
Able to convey complex concepts to non-technical audiences in a succinct and accessible way
A collaborative approach to working, with good relationship building skills
Capability in DAX, Power Query or equivalent
Nice-to-have:
Experience working with stakeholders to refine requirements and design outputs
Mentoring or coaching experience
Experience in Python or PySpark
Experience working in any capacity in retail or ecommerce, marketing, supply chain, healthcare or other regulated environments such as telco, financial services and utilities.
Compensation: $80,000 - $95,000 base salary, plus quarterly bonus, profit sharing, and benefits. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience
