Salary: $100,000 - $135,000 per year, Exempt

Schedule: Full-time; Hybrid, Monday - Friday, with 1 - 2 in-office days per week

What You'll Own - Essential Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Development

Lead the accounting team and oversee the hiring, onboarding, training, and development of team members.

Manage associate performance and development through:

Coaching and ongoing feedback

Professional development

Performance reviews

Corrective action, when needed

Client Accounting & Financial Oversight

Lead Client Accounting operations and oversee the monthly accounting cycle for assigned properties, including:

Property cash flow monitoring and forecasting

Month-end close review

Preliminary financial review

Journal entry and bank reconciliation compliance

Monthly financial reporting package review

Manage property-level financial obligations and transactions, including:

Owner distribution calculations

Draw requests and funding schedules

Debt service, tax, and insurance payments

Oversee broader accounting activities, including:

Annual budgeting

Year-end audit requests

Treasury management

General ledger account setup and reporting structure maintenance

Direct redevelopment accounting, including job cost, cash, and work-in-progress reconciliations.

Support the implementation and rollout of ancillary property operations systems.

Client & Cross-Functional Partnership

Serve as a key accounting partner to clients, site teams, regional leadership and home office departments.

Communicate with clients regarding monthly financial deliverables, owner distributions, and other accounting requests.

Provide accounting guidance, support, and training to Community Managers and Regional Managers.

Develop and implement policies and procedures that improve communication, financial controls, and efficiency between accounting and property operations.

What You'll Bring

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

Two or more years of supervisory or people leadership experience

Experience preparing and reviewing financial statements

Knowledge of effective accounting controls

Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency

Strong organizational, time-management, and prioritization skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and sound judgment

Ability to work independently and collaborate across teams

Customer-service mindset and commitment to continuous improvement

Experience with Yardi, MRI, and/or affordable housing accounting preferred

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Ability to travel locally for meetings, events, or property visits, as needed.

Ability to occasionally lift up to 15 pounds.

Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and through virtual platforms.

Hybrid work environment, with in-person work required at Thrive’s Home Office unless otherwise noted.

Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English with sufficient proficiency to perform the responsibilities of the role.
