
Sr. Principal Applied Scientist, Advertising Full Funnel Agentic Intelligence
About the role
DESCRIPTION
This is a Sr. Principal Applied Scientist role within the Advertising Full Funnel Agentic Intelligence and Models team, designed to drive foundational model innovation for Amazon Ads. The team is building next-generation agentic AI systems for advertising. This hire will serve as a key technical leader bringing rare low-level model development expertise to Amazon Ads. This is a high-visibility, high-impact role requiring deep expertise in multimodal foundation models, model architectures, and training methodologies at scale.
Key job responsibilities
Define long-term scientific vision for advertising technologies, translating complex customer needs into strategic roadmaps
Design and implement innovative machine learning and generative AI solutions across multiple advertising product domains
Mentor and develop scientific talent, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous innovation
Collaborate with senior leadership to influence technical direction and strategic decision-making
Establish partnerships with academic institutions to drive cutting-edge research and talent development
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Doctoral degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or related technical discipline
Extensive expertise in machine learning, generative AI, and large language model technologies
Proven track record of translating advanced research into production-ready solutions
Strong publication record in peer-reviewed conferences and journals
Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in advertising technology, recommendation systems, or e-commerce platforms
Expertise in multi-modal AI systems and advanced natural language processing
Background in developing scalable machine learning infrastructure
Experience leading cross-functional scientific research initiatives
Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop scientific talent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
