Senior Software Engineer - The Deployment Infrastructure
Skills
About the role
The mission of Application Frameworks at Bloomberg is to deliver a seamless, industry-aligned, and fully supported application platform that enables a delightful Bloomberg Terminal experience. Every day, thousands of engineers across Bloomberg push updates to the Terminal. But behind the scenes? It’s us, the Terminal Deployment Infrastructure team, making sure all that code reaches the right clients at the right time, with surgical precision.
We don’t just build pipelines, we’ve built a targeting engine for software delivery. It lets us roll out changes to specific users or firms with precise dependency control, and rewind any part of a complex chain without rebuilds or redeploys. Need to patch a component in a shared library stack? Easy. Want to A/B test a new UI with a few users in Tokyo? Just point and click. Pushing code to production should feel reliable and empowering, not risky.
What you’ll work on:
Distributed systems spanning Bloomberg data centers and client PCs that update global installs continuously, securely, and silently
Runtime infrastructure that resolves unique dependency graphs per-user, in real time
Full-stack tools that let thousands of Bloomberg engineers control rollout with pinpoint accuracy
Solving hard problems around dependency management, rollback, versioning, and real-time targeting
Helping define the future of how Bloomberg ships software
You’ll need to have:
4+ years experience in software development using C++
Experience designing scalable and maintainable distributed systems
A good knowledge of SDLC best practices
Enthusiasm to work with stakeholders on product enhancements
We’d love to see:
Experience with Javascript/Typescript, Go and Python
Interest in leading impactful cross-team projects
A desire to learn and keep up to date with latest technological trends
Enthusiasm to work with the C++ and JavaScript communities within Bloomberg as well cross-industry
