About the role

Job Description:

This role is the Senior Technical anchor and squad leader for a CARS (Cognitive Agentic Robotic Services) DevOps squad, responsible for the design and quality of migrations from Automation Anywhere to open-source Python on the Convergence platform as well as the overall automation software design. The Sr. Software Architect leads solution design within the platform standards, owns day-to-day technical decisions, and is the most senior engineer on the ground in their region.

The role is a key enabler of Mars’ digital strategy – a modern, pro-code automation platform that drives efficiency, resilience, and cost savings across hundreds of business processes. The Sr. Software Architect makes sure the squad delivers at pace while every migrated automation is correct, consistent with the platform standard, audit-ready and continuously drives improvements.

Solution Design Technical Leadership

Lead solution design for the squad’s migrations, applying the Convergence platform and migration standards set by the CARS Senior Engineering Lead.

Act as the most senior engineer on the ground and the daily technical decision-maker, keeping delivery unblocked across time zones.

Break down complex legacy automations into clear specifications, patterns, and work the squad can execute.

Champion AI-assisted development while setting expectations for how generated code is reviewed and verified.

Quality Standards

Own the squad’s code review gate, upholding CARS coding, testing, and audit standards before changes are merged.

Make sure migrated automations are proven equivalent to the originals through automated testing, including edge cases.

Ensure test evidence meets ITGC audit standards and that the clean audit history is protected.

Escalate standards or architecture questions to the CARS Senior Engineering Lead rather than forking the platform approach.

Squad Leadership

Run or coordinate squad ceremonies and flow, surfacing blockers and dependencies to the Senior Manager.

Balance migration throughput against quality and keep the squad focused on Phase 1 targets.

Mentoring Collaboration

Mentor T2 and T1 engineers and grow the squad’s capability on Python, testing, and the Convergence platform.

Partner with the other squad lead and the Senior Engineering Lead to keep both geographies aligned.

Document architecture decisions, patterns, and runbooks to support scalability and audit.

The role operates as the senior technical lead within a CARS DevOps squad in Brazil or GCC India, reporting to the Senior Manager, CARS, and aligning technically with the CARS Senior Engineering Lead, who owns the platform standard and the independent quality gate. The Sr. Software Architect is the squad lead and the first technical escalation point for the squad.

The associate works in an Agile delivery model where AI-assisted development is core, balanced by rigorous review and verification.

Technology scope includes but is not limited to: Python, Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, SQL Server, AI coding assistants, Automation Anywhere (source platform being retired), and the Convergence home-grown platform.

Required:

7 years of software engineering with expert, production-grade Python, including object-oriented design

Strong architecture and design judgment for building and migrating automations or applications.

Excellent code review skills and the ability to set and uphold quality and testing standards.

Experience proving correctness through automated testing, including in audit or controlled environments.

Hands-on experience running software in production, including monitoring, incident response, and operational support.Strong communication skills to lead a squad and align across geographies.

Fluent English (written and verbal) – required for global collaboration

Preferred:

Experience leading RPA-to-code migrations or platform builds.

Hands-on use of AI coding assistants (Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Gemini, Claude).

Experience leading squads.

Cloud platform experience (Azure or GCP) and enterprise integration patterns.

Exposure to ITGC or other audit and control frameworks
