About the role

Senior Environment & Sustainability Engineer

Sandvik Ground Support | Narangba, QLD

Shape Sustainability Across APAC. Drive Real Environmental Impact.

At Sandvik Ground Support, we’re looking for an experienced environmental professional who

is passionate about sustainability, regulatory compliance, and driving meaningful environmental outcomes. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of environmental management programs across our APAC operations while playing a critical role in protecting and managing one of our most important environmental responsibilities – water quality and compliance.

This is not a typical environmental position. We are seeking a hands-on environmental specialist with strong water monitoring, testing and compliance experience who can confidently manage groundwater, surface water and stormwater programs, work with regulators, and lead sustainability initiatives that make a genuine impact across our business.

If you enjoy combining technical environmental expertise with strategic sustainability leadership, this role offers the opportunity to influence environmental performance across multiple sites throughout the APAC region.

Key responsibilities include:

Lead environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives across APAC operations.

Manage and oversee environmental monitoring programs, with a strong focus on surface water, groundwater and stormwater testing and compliance.

Coordinate water sampling programs, interpret results and ensure compliance with Environmental Authority requirements.

Engage and liaise with environmental consultants, laboratories and regulatory bodies.

Investigate environmental incidents, non-compliances and corrective actions.

Develop and implement environmental management systems, policies and procedures.

Drive sustainability projects and ESG reporting initiatives.

Provide technical guidance on waste management, contamination, remediation and environmental restoration.

Conduct field inspections, environmental sampling and environmental audits.

Act as a key contact for environmental regulators and external stakeholders

About You:

You are a passionate and technically capable environmental professional who thrives on turning data into action and ensuring organisations meet the highest environmental standards.

Most importantly, you bring strong hands-on experience in water monitoring, sampling and testing, with the ability to confidently manage and interpret surface water, groundwater and stormwater data to support regulatory compliance and environmental performance.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

A degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or a related discipline.

Minimum 3 years' experience in an environmental engineering or environmental compliance role.

Proven experience in water quality testing, environmental sampling, monitoring programs and compliance reporting.

Strong knowledge of environmental legislation, regulatory requirements and Environmental Authority (EA) obligations.

Experience developing, implementing and maintaining Environmental Management Systems (EMS).

The ability to analyse environmental data, identify trends and drive corrective actions.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to work with operational teams, consultants, laboratories and regulatory authorities.

A proactive, solutions-focused mindset and a genuine passion for sustainability and continuous improvement.

Highly regarded:

Experience dealing directly with the EPA or other environmental regulators.

Exposure to ESG and sustainability reporting.

Experience within a manufacturing, galvanising or heavy industry environment.

This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys combining field-based environmental monitoring with strategic sustainability initiatives and is looking to take ownership of critical environmental programs across a leading global organisation.
