Role Summary

Sherwood is currently seeking a Design Engineer III - Water/Wastewater to support our growing, progressive and dynamic civil and environmental engineering firm. The successful candidate will work as an integral part of Sherwood’s Water/Wastewater team, collaborating with engineering disciplines to co-create solutions to a variety of infrastructure challenges. We are seeking an individual who demonstrates a professional skill set in engineering design of water, wastewater and water reuse infrastructure, can work productively as a member of a multidisciplinary team, work independently, and develop clear, evidence-based solutions.

Minimum Skills

3+ years of experience in civil and/or environmental engineering industry

Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering

Strong water/wastewater technical background, including in-depth experience with water and wastewater treatment processes

Experience developing water and wastewater infrastructure solutions and developing plan set packages across all project phases including conceptual design, detailed design, and construction administration

Experience preparing technical reports, documentation, and presentations for stakeholders, regulatory agencies, and clients.

Proficient in producing water/wastewater treatment plant designs in AutoCAD

Experience with water/wastewater process modeling and simulation software (e.g., BioWin, GPS-X)

Experience with operation of treatment plants and/or pilot studies, monitoring, sampling, measurements, analysis and reporting

Preferred Skills

Experience in a consulting environment

Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (civil, mechanical, electrical) to integrate design solutions.

Experience with advanced water treatment technologies (e.g. membrane filtration, UV disinfection)

Familiarity with SCADA systems systems and automated controls for water and wastewater treatment systems

Knowledge of water, wastewater, and water reuse regulations and permitting processes in California and the United States

Knowledge and exposure to civil and hydraulic design programs (Civil 3D, PCSWMM, SewerCAD, ArcGIS, etc.)

Engineer in Training (EIT) certified or Professional Engineering (PE) license.

Certifications or other sustainability-oriented accreditation preferred (iLEED , Envision, Living Building Challenge, EcoDistricts)

Expected Outcomes

Develop high quality, cutting edge sustainable engineering solutions for our clients including process evaluation, facilities planning, engineering design, permitting & compliance, construction administration and operations planning

Prepare calculations, design criteria and technical memorandums

Work across teams and engage subconsultants as needed to develop integrated design solutions

Implement quality assurance and quality control through all project phases.

Contribute to staff development through training and mentoring.

Create and implement innovative design techniques that enhance company productivity of assignments

Ensure engineering designs are in compliance with current applicable state & local regulations

Compensation:

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to: skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Sherwood Design Engineers, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $99,000 to $110,000. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.
