The Operations Digital & Decision Science (ODDS) team at Delta provides decision support across all major operational divisions using advanced analytics including machine learning and optimization. ODDS is seeking a Decision Scientist I to develop machine learning models, deliver insights, and produce solutions aimed at continually improving airline performance and decision making. An ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in machine learning, statistical analysis, and data storytelling. The candidate should have good organizational and communication skills and feel comfortable in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

Work within a team of decision scientists to develop advanced analytics solutions for complex business problems

Collect data and perform exploratory data analysis

Present analysis to business owners using concise but compelling narrative and visuals

Learn new techniques within cloud-based platforms

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)

1-2 years of experience in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Proficiency working with relational databases (SQL)

Working knowledge of Python

Good written, oral communication, and interpersonal skills

Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data.

Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles.

Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.

Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)

Bachelor's degree within related skillset

Master’s degree preferred

Working knowledge of machine learning libraries (Scikit-learn, XGBoost, TensorFlow, etc.)

Working knowledge of simulation techniques (Discrete event, Agent-based, etc.)
