Your Job

The Purchasing Supervisor is responsible for leading the purchasing team and ensuring reliable material availability, supplier execution, purchase order discipline, and inventory alignment.

Our Team

This position plays a critical role in supporting production continuity, customer delivery performance, supplier accountability, and supply chain stability. The Purchasing Supervisor must ensure that buyers are properly managing MRP signals, supplier commitments, shortages, expedites, purchase order accuracy, and escalation processes in a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment.

The role requires strong leadership, supplier management capability, analytical discipline, urgency, and close coordination with Planning, Customer Service, Logistics, Warehouse, Quality, Finance, Engineering, Operations, and corporate procurement teams.

What You Will Do

Supervise the daily activities of the purchasing team, ensuring clear priorities, accountability, and timely follow-up on material requirements.

Ensure material availability to support production schedules, customer commitments, engineering changes, launches, and service requirements.

Monitor MRP execution, purchase order placement, supplier confirmations, delivery dates, expedites, reschedules, cancellations, and shortage recovery actions.

Lead daily and weekly material risk reviews with buyers, planning, logistics, customer service, and operations.

Escalate supplier constraints, delivery risks, pricing issues, allocation problems, and critical shortages with clear recovery plans.

Track and improve supplier performance, including on-time delivery, responsiveness, lead time adherence, escalation support, and corrective action closure.

Support inventory optimization initiatives, including excess and obsolete reduction, aging inventory review, MOQ alignment, lead time validation, safety stock review, and supplier flexibility improvement.

Ensure purchasing master data, supplier lead times, purchase order parameters, and ERP records are accurate and properly maintained.

Partner with Planning and Customer Service to align supplier commitments with demand changes, customer priorities, and production requirements.

Coordinate with Logistics and Traffic to ensure inbound transportation execution, import/export readiness, and delivery visibility.

Support Quality and Engineering teams on supplier quality issues, deviations, engineering changes, PPAP-related activities, and new product introductions.

Review and approve purchasing actions within assigned authority levels and ensure compliance with Molex policies, internal controls, and ethical standards.

Develop buyers through coaching, training, performance feedback, workload balancing, and standard work implementation.

Drive continuous improvement projects related to purchasing process discipline, supplier reliability, data accuracy, automation, cost reduction, and material flow.

Prepare purchasing KPIs, shortage summaries, supplier scorecards, risk reports, and management updates.

Support supplier business reviews, escalation meetings, sourcing initiatives, localization projects, and cost improvement actions.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, International Business, Logistics, or related field.

5+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, materials, supplier management, or supply chain operations.

2+ years of leadership, supervisory, or team coordination experience.

Experience in manufacturing, automotive, electronics, or maquiladora operations.

Strong knowledge of MRP, ERP, purchase order management, supplier follow-up, shortage management, and inventory control.

Experience working with suppliers, production planning, logistics, quality, and operations teams.

Strong Excel and analytical skills.

English proficiency required.

What Will Put You Ahead

SAP experience strongly preferred.

Experience in automotive customer environments or IATF 16949 manufacturing systems.

Knowledge of supplier scorecards, supplier development, escalation processes, and corrective action management.

Experience with global suppliers, long lead-time materials, allocation management, and constrained supply environments.

Knowledge of IMMEX, import/export, USMCA/T-MEC, and cross-border material flow preferred.

APICS CPIM, CSCP, Lean Six Sigma, procurement, or supply chain certification preferred.

Experience supporting new product launches, engineering changes, and end-of-life material management.
