Job mission:
In constant dialogue with the Fitting Tailor / Alteration Lead, the Tailor works independently on complex tailored or simple flou pieces.
With guidance from the Alteration Lead or the Fitting Tailor, he/she is responsible for producing high quality, CHANEL-standard alterations within established timeframe, in order to provide the ultimate CHANEL service experience.

Technical missions:
UNDERSTANDING & INTERPRETING THE LANGUAGE OF THE PINS
Knows how to understand and interpret the alteration work to be carried out when the piece is received.
Knows the fundamentals of Chanel Alteration and the original allure / silhouette of the piece to alter
UNDERSTANDING OF THE CREATIVE INTENT IN THE GARMENT
Ensures that the alterations will be made without ever distorting creative bias
ALTERATION & REPAIR OF COMPLEX TAILORED OR FLOU PIECES
Knows how to carry out alterations on complex top and bottom pieces in order to provide a careful, precise and invisible work.
Alters clothing according to customers’ specifications and fit, and applies principles of garment design, construction, and styling:
Carefully reads the alteration form (technical information and clients’ information) and / or receives an oral brief from the Fitting Tailor / Alteration Lead
Checks the pinning on the garment
Organizes own alteration work according to the technical information, the placement of the pins and the construction of the garment.
Dismantles, performs alterations, assembles the garment and finish
Tries the piece on a mannequin to ensure the fit of the garment
Inspects finishes (buttons, pulled threads, trims, lockstitches, label, wrap...) and corrects them if needed
Repairs or replaces defective garment parts such as pockets, zippers, snaps, buttons, cuff links and linings
FITTINGS
Assists the fitting tailor during fittings with clients based on case by case
May be requested to conduct a fitting with clients in the absence of the fitting tailor
Organizations missions:
WORKSHOP PERFORMANCE
Performs alteration within lead time
Complies with paperwork (e.g. alteration form), procedures, schedule, planning and anticipation of requests
Understands retail and basic boutique retail operation and procedures
Respects and works harmoniously with Heart of House operations
Maintains alteration equipment / tools and alerts on the alteration supplies
TRANSMISSION & TEAMWORK
Participation to all the boutique key meetings and trainings especially when related to RTW
Shares his/her knowledge of alterations with the team, coaches and motivates them
Exchanges tips with other Tailors in the team
Actively seeks and accepts feedback with open mind
Collaborate strongly with the Fitting Tailor at every step of the alteration experience or with FAs
Supports other Tailors' workload in case of activity peak
Role Specifications / Profile:
Academic training about clothing and Fashion design or apprenticeship in tailoring or equivalent
At least 5 years’ experience as a tailor with basic to advanced alteration skills
Past experience in an international fashion House is a plus
Strong woven and flou Couture skills: knowledge of sewing, construction of pieces and fabrics / understanding of garment construction and Couture
Strongly aware of Fashion and products / Good knowledge of different materials
Complete knowledge of sewing machines
Excellent relational skills, a team spirit, and a developed sense of service
Organization, rigor, and sense of priorities
Ability to cope well with change
Humility and willingness to learn and apply new technologies at work
