Position Description
Scott Springfield by Modine is tier-1 supplier that offers scalable air handling solutions for commercial and industrial customers across North America. SSM has garnered a hard-earned reputation for customer service, quality and reliability. To support its growth, SSM is looking to add a Mechanical Designer to the team.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager - Design, this position is responsible for the mechanical design of HVAC air handlers.
This role will be based at our 2234 Portland St SE location in Calgary Alberta, Canada.
Key Responsibilities
Design of mechanical equipment for functionality, serviceability and performance. This will require a familiarity of SSM manufacturing principles, guidelines and knowledge of components commonly used in air handlers
Drafting of air handling equipment using 3D design software - IronCAD. Conversion of AutoCAD drawings into IronCAD.
Liaison with the Electrical Designers to ensure design conformance and submittal accuracy
Create submittals for issuance to our external customers
Selection of components used for the design of the Scott Springfield product line. This may include the use of selection software or consultation with vendors to ensure proper component selection for performance and price
Research codes and standards
Update and maintain the internal standards documentation
Provide technical assistance in the application and design of mechanical equipment for specific projects
Demonstrate compliance with company policies, procedures and conduct
Required Education & Qualifications
Applies sound knowledge of engineering principles in the execution of multiple projects
Provide support to the design team in the execution of their responsibilities
Responsible for the analysis of technical issues within the core discipline
Successful execution by adhering to budget and schedule constraints
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with multiple, changing priorities.
Keen attention to detail and organizational skills.
Engineering degree or technical diploma with eligibility or membership in APEGA or ASET
Experience in refrigeration design for residential or commercial applications is an asset
