About the role
Position Description:
The Director of Business Development is responsible for working closely with the Firm and Practice Area Leaders to strategically position OZ for growth and impact. This involves building and maintaining an OZ Business Development system, inclusive of a growing base of actionable knowledge regarding project leads, new and existing clients, new and existing markets, business relationships, sales, and revenue generation at OZ. Essential areas of focus include identifying, pursuing, developing, and maintaining relationships within current and potential market segments, new client acquisition, fostering consultant relationships and CRM system utilization. The candidate must have experience in successfully forecasting, planning, and executing annual plans in support of firmwide, practice, and individual sales goals. This position reports to the OZ Partners Board and collaborates laterally with the Director of Marketing.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications or relevant field
10 or more years of business development/sales/marketing experience within the A/E/C industry
Experience collaborating, leading, and developing and evaluating Annual Business Development Plans, Market Penetration plans and Project-Specific Capture plans for diverse sectors and in diverse geographic markets
Excellent organization, communication, and presentation skills
Industry Organization and Association leadership
Ability to attend industry events
Ability to travel, as needed
Proficiency in various computer applications.
Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
Deltek Vision (preferred, not required)
CRM databases
Adobe Creative Suite (preferred, not required)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Internal Leadership
Lead the effort of fostering the importance of a Business Development system and effective knowledge sharing in OZ culture
Act as conduit and connector of information within and outside of OZ
Work with Practice Area Leaders to execute strategic efforts focused on growing business with existing and new clients
Utilize and leverage existing Client Relationship Management (CRM) Database
Provide firm leadership in:
Opportunity & Lead Generation
Project Capture Planning
Client Growth and Retention Strategy
Sales Measurement & Improvement
External Leadership
Promote a business and public presence for OZ in Denver and target regions
Develop and maintain strong relationships within the A/E/C, Real Estate and Civic realms.
Serve as a spokesperson and representative for OZ through strategic engagement and leadership within professional and civic organizations.
Competencies:
Ability to identify new market segments/clients/business as well as maximizing outcomes with existing clients / existing business
Ability to conduct research, generate leads, and create opportunities for the company
Contribute to successful project acquisition through directly actionable market, client, and project intelligence, as well as capture planning
Understanding of client strategy
A public presence in the A/E/C industry
Effective networking skills and stakeholder relations
Leadership in A/E/C and/or business development associations
Spokesperson and representative for the organization
Ability to Foster the importance of a Business Development System within the OZ culture
Client Relationship Management (CRM) Database utilization, training, and maintenance
Ability to measure & Improve BD results at OZ
