Summary:

UST is looking for Senior Ruby on Rails Developer

The Opportunity:

Design, develop, and maintain web applications using Ruby on Rails.

Build scalable RESTful APIs and integrate with third-party services.

Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following best practices.

Optimize application performance, scalability, and security.

Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, QA, and other Engineers to deliver features.

Participate in code reviews and mentor junior developers.

Troubleshoot production issues and implement long-term fixes.

Work with relational databases and optimize complex SQL queries.

Contribute to system architecture and technical design discussions.

Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog refinement.

What you need:

Required Skills:

Strong hands-on experience with Ruby and Ruby on Rails.

4-7 years of professional software development experience.

Good understanding of MVC architecture and Rails conventions.

Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs.

Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL/MySQL and database design principles.

Experience with Git and collaborative development workflows.

Solid understanding of object-oriented programming and software design principles.

Experience writing unit, integration, and functional tests using RSpec, Minitest, or similar frameworks.

Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

Experience working on microservices or distributed systems.

Desired Skills:

Familiarity with Sidekiq, ActiveJob, or other background job processing frameworks.

Understanding of Redis, caching strategies, and application performance optimization.

Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.

Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, CircleCI, etc.).

Knowledge of frontend technologies such as JavaScript, React

Experience with Elasticsearch, Solr, or other search technologies.

Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools like Datadog, New Relic, Splunk.

Exposure to event-driven architectures and messaging systems such as Kafka
