About the role
We are looking for a dedicated System Engineer with practical experience in administering Windows and/or Linux environments while maintaining system security and compliance with organizational standards. The successful candidate will possess strong technical expertise in operating system installation, configuration, patch management, troubleshooting, security administration, and automation through scripting technologies such as PowerShell and Bash.
Key ResponsibilitiesPatch Management
Manage and deploy security patches and updates for Windows and/or Linux servers using tools such as Windows Server Update Services (WSUS), AWS Systems Manager, or similar cloud-based patch management platforms.
Monitor patch compliance status and prepare reports to support audit, governance, and regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with application teams, system owners, developers, and infrastructure stakeholders to plan and execute patch deployments during scheduled maintenance windows, including post-deployment validation and system health checks.
Operating System Image Management
Develop, maintain, and refresh standardized operating system images using tools such as AWS EC2 Image Builder, AWS Systems Manager Documents, and related technologies.
Incorporate vulnerability assessments and compliance validation procedures into the image creation process to ensure secure and compliant image releases.
Technical Support & Operations
Deliver Level 2 and Level 3 technical support for incidents, service requests, and operational issues.
Monitor server performance, system availability, and infrastructure health to ensure reliable and efficient operations.
Troubleshoot and resolve system-related issues in a timely manner.
IT Service Management
Apply ITIL-based practices across Incident Management, Problem Management, and Change Management processes.
Accurately document tickets, investigations, resolutions, and operational activities within the service management platform.
Adhere to service level agreements (SLAs) and ensure prompt resolution of assigned tickets.
Documentation & Knowledge Sharing
Develop and maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), knowledge base articles, and operational guides.
Create and update runbooks for recurring administrative and operational activities to support operational consistency and efficiency.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Computing, or a related discipline.
Minimum one year of experience in systems administration, system analysis, design, or programming.
Hands-on experience with Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) patch management.
Strong working knowledge of:
Windows Server 2019, 2022, and 2025
Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8 and 9
Willingness to participate in a 24x7 on-call support rotation as part of operational support requirements.
Security clearance is required
Preferred Qualifications
Relevant industry certifications, such as AWS Certified SysOps Administrator / Cloud Operations Engineer Associate or equivalent.
Experience with automation and scripting using languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or similar scripting tools.
Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and modern system administration best practices.
