Job Summary

As an Electronics Development Engineer, you will take a hands-on role in developing electronic hardware for high-power diode laser applications and advanced production equipment. You will work across the full development cycle, from circuit concepts and simulation through prototyping, laboratory testing, commissioning, and transfer into manufacturing.

The role combines detailed design work with practical experimentation and troubleshooting in the laboratory. You will collaborate closely with colleagues across electronics, software, and the wider R&D organization while contributing to several technical development projects.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and validate analog and digital electronic hardware, including circuit concepts, hardware specifications, PCB layouts, and embedded systems for products, components, and advanced production equipment

Develop electronic solutions such as high-power laser diode drivers and industrial laser system controllers

Build prototypes, perform simulation, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization of electronic hardware

Create electrical schematics, electrical control cabinet designs, technical documentation, and support product transfer into manufacturing

Develop test software and ensure compliance with applicable standards, including EMC, functional safety, and risk assessment requirements.

Conduct experiments and work collaboratively with colleagues to test, evaluate, and improve electronic systems in the laboratory

Contribute to technical project planning, documentation, prioritization, and coordination across multiple R&D activities

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable technical discipline

Experience supporting R&D project management, budget planning, project controlling, technical documentation, or subsidy-funded development activities would be an advantage

Additional Skills & Requirements

Strong expertise in analog and digital circuit design, PCB development, electronic simulation, and embedded systems, including microcontrollers

Experience with EDA tools, such as Altium Designer or Eagle, and electrical CAD tools, such as EPLAN

Hands-on experience in hardware validation, commissioning, troubleshooting, prototyping, laboratory testing, and the optimization of electronic and mechatronic systems

Practical knowledge of experimental design and data analysis

Structured, proactive, and solution-oriented working style, with strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills and the flexibility to manage changing priorities

Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams; experience with R&D project management, budget planning, project controlling, technical documentation, or subsidy-funded projects would be an advantage

Good written and spoken German and English skills, with German as the primary working language within the team
