About the role

About the role

As a Senior Conversation Designer, you'll create AI-powered conversational experiences that help millions of customers shop better. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you'll design natural, engaging and personalised interactions while helping shape how generative AI is used across Tesco's digital products.

You will be responsible for

Designing conversational experiences and conversation flows from concept to delivery

Training and refining large language models to align with Tesco's brand and tone of voice

Creating prototypes and mock-ups to test and communicate ideas

Researching customer needs and behaviours to improve experiences and personalisation

Testing, validating and iterating conversational experiences using customer feedback and analytics

Identifying opportunities to introduce generative AI across products and services

Collaborating with designers, researchers, product managers and engineers

Supporting user research activities and applying insights to design decisions

Defining and promoting conversation design best practices

Contributing to design systems, standards and ways of working

Helping build AI and conversation design capability across the wider team

You will need

Experience designing conversational interfaces and chat experiences

Experience working with large language models and conversational AI

Strong user research and usability testing skills

A solid understanding of conversation design principles and best practices

Excellent writing, tone of voice and communication skills

Strong attention to detail and consistency across complex user journeys

A customer-centred approach to solving problems

Experience working with cross-functional product teams

The ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders

An interest in AI, emerging technologies and industry trends

A good understanding of accessibility and inclusive design principles

Nice to have

Experience designing end-to-end digital product experiences

Experience creating wireframes, flows and prototypes in Figma

Experience working on large-scale customer-facing digital products

Experience planning and supporting user research activities

Experience testing and refining experiences during implementation

Knowledge of user-centred design methodologies and practices
