About the role
About CarSupermarket.com & Aramis Group
CarSupermarket.com is part of Aramis Group, Europe's leader in B2C online refurbished car sales. Alongside our sister brands Aramisauto (France), Cardoen (Belgium), Clicars (Spain), OnlineCars (Austria), and Brumbrum (Italy), we're transforming how Europeans buy cars - with an annual turnover of over €2 billion, selling over 90,000 vehicles, and achieving an impressive NPS of 73.
At CarSupermarket.com, we are part of this success story, and we're at a pivotal moment in our data journey.
The Opportunity
We are at a pivotal moment in our UK data journey.
Today, our business relies heavily on data, but our capability is early-stage: data is fragmented, not always clean, and often hard to access or interpret. Much of the responsibility currently sits with a single individual, creating pressure and limiting our ability to turn data into clear, shared understanding across the business.
We are now looking for a Senior Data Analyst / Data Engineer to help us stabilise, simplify, and evolve our data capability - someone who can both get their hands dirty today and shape where we go next.
This is not a "plug-and-play" analytics role. It's a chance to build foundations, influence how decisions are made, and work directly with the CEO to surface the real problems - not just report numbers.
What You'll Be Responsible For
1. Make data usable, trusted, and visible
Take ownership of data quality, structure, and accessibility
Identify and fix the biggest issues: data cleanliness, definitions, consistency, and single points of failure
Create clear, reliable views of the business that people actually understand and use
2. Turn complexity into clarity
Translate complex, messy datasets into simple, digestible insights
Build dashboards and analyses that tell a story, highlight trade-offs, and make problems visible
Help non-technical stakeholders understand what matters, what's broken, and what to do next
3. Partner directly with the CEO
Work closely with the CEO to frame the right questions and reveal underlying operational and commercial issues
Support decision-making with evidence, not noise
Be confident challenging assumptions when the data says something uncomfortable
4. Be hands-on while shaping the future
Roll up your sleeves to write SQL, build pipelines, fix broken reporting, and create interim solutions
In parallel, define a clear vision for the future: tooling, architecture, data ownership, governance, and how analytics should support the business as we scale
5. Reduce risk and dependency
Help move us away from single-person dependency
Document data logic, definitions, and processes
Create a more resilient, shared approach to data across teams
What We're Looking For
Experience & Skills
Strong experience as a Senior Data Analyst, Analytics Engineer, or Data Engineer (3+ years)
Comfortable working in imperfect, fast-moving environments
Excellent SQL skills and experience working across multiple data sources
Experience building data models, reporting layers, and dashboards used by senior leadership
Confident with modern data stacks (e.g., Snowflake, dbt, Power BI, Airbyte - exact tools matter less than mindset)
Way of Working
Calm, structured, and resilient - especially when things are messy
Able to prioritise ruthlessly: not everything needs fixing at once
Strong communicator who can explain data clearly, say "this is good enough for now," and push back when needed
Comfortable operating without a detailed playbook
Mindset
You see messy data as a problem to be solved, not a reason to disengage
You enjoy building foundations, not just polishing finished products
You care about impact, not just outputs
You're as comfortable in a leadership conversation as you are writing code
What Success Looks Like
The CEO and leadership team have clear, trusted views of the business
Data conversations shift from "Can we trust this?" to "What should we do about this?"
Key risks, bottlenecks, and trade-offs are visible early
Data is no longer a single point of failure
There is a credible, realistic roadmap for how data will support the business long-term
Why Join CarSupermarket.com?
A genuinely high-impact role with direct access to the CEO and decision-makers
The chance to shape a data function from the ground up at CarSupermarket.com
Real autonomy - you'll influence tools, standards, and priorities
A business that knows it has problems and is ready to face them, not hide them
Part of Aramis Group's wider Data team with expertise across Europe to learn from and collaborate with International environment with cross-country knowledge sharing Management model encouraging initiative-taking and problem-solving
