What you’ll do

As a Technical Director in our Ports, Marine & Coastal team based in Perth, you’ll contribute to projects and programs that make a real difference and be part of a team that embraces challenges, welcomes diverse ideas, and engineer solutions with people and outcomes in mind.

Set technical and delivery direction across complex ports, marine and coastal infrastructure projects, from strategy and concept through design, procurement and construction.

Act as Technical Director, or technical authority on major multidisciplinary projects, assuring safety, quality, constructability, operability, compliance and overall solution integrity.

Establish fit-for-purpose governance, verification, review and risk-management frameworks, and lead the resolution of high-impact technical and delivery issues.

Guide clients through complex decisions, risks and trade-offs, providing clear, practical advice and building long-term trusted relationships with Defence, port authorities, government agencies, asset owners, contractors and delivery partners.

Lead major opportunities and proposals, shaping client positioning, scope, fees, delivery strategy, commercial approach and governance, while assuring project and portfolio performance across cost, programme, quality, risk and client value.

Lead and develop multidisciplinary teams, strengthen technical eminence, champion digital and data-led delivery, and collaborate across Aurecon to grow the Ports, Marine & Coastal business.

What you’ll bring

Australian citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence Security Clearance are mandatory requirements for this role

A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related discipline, with expertise in structural, geotechnical, coastal, maritime or port engineering; postgraduate qualifications are advantageous.

Chartered Professional Engineer status and relevant professional registration, or an equivalent internationally recognised credential.

Typically 15+ years of senior-level experience in ports, marine, coastal infrastructure, with a proven record of setting technical direction and leading major multidisciplinary projects across the full asset lifecycle.

Externally recognised expertise in a relevant maritime discipline, supported by strong knowledge of Australian legislation, standards, approval processes and international guidance such as PIANC.

Demonstrated client, commercial and people leadership, including trusted-adviser relationships, business development, project and portfolio governance, multidisciplinary team development, and strong communication with a commitment to digital innovation and continuous improvement.
