Reporting to the Head of Corporate Sales – Pacific, you as Business Development Lead will be responsible for your own portfolio as well as leading a team of people in expanding our footprint across ANZ.

What you will do:

As Business Development Lead, will identify and pursue strategic growth opportunities for Avis Budget Group by expanding our corporate customer base, increasing revenue, and transitioning new strategic partnerships into the business.

You will be accountable for delivering sustainable revenue growth through a combination of direct business development activity and effective leadership of a small team of Business Development Managers. You will operate as a “player–coach,” maintaining individual quota responsibility while driving team performance, capability development, and disciplined execution of the organisation’s growth strategy.

Having a detailed understanding of the functionality and purpose of the Avis Budget product range and value proposition, you will predominately optimise new business opportunities across mid to large size enterprise needs.

This role is responsible for the following key areas:

Achieve individual revenue targets through the identification, development, and conversion of new business opportunities by developing and implementing a comprehensive B2B business development strategy to prioritise pipeline growth and achieve revenue targets across corporate, commercial and government channels that supports the company’s commercial growth objectives.

Build key relationships and support seamless implementation of new partners into the business.

Negotiate and manage new agreements and contracts to ensure mutually beneficial terms.

Proactively conduct market analysis to identify trends, risks, customer needs and competitor activities in an evolving economy with both short and mid to long term outlook. Make tactical recommendations to the Manager as appropriate.

Work closely with local operations state managers, commercial vehicle managers and franchise partners to identify, engage and develop sales pipeline and growth strategy.

For the team:

Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and performance management for a team of Business Development Managers and drive a high-performance culture focused on accountability, continuous improvement, and results.

Set clear performance objectives, sales targets, and activity metrics aligned to organisational goals whilst supporting team members in opportunity strategy, pipeline progression, and deal closure.

Provide subject matter guidance, training, and support to motivate team members across direct and wider sales channel to help pursue growth targets.

What we’re looking for

Previous management experience in a similar role with a proven record of revenue growth and profit achievement in a business development, account management and sales capacity. This along with knowledge and application of the strategic dimension of sales and managing key accounts to be able to maintain existing business and identify opportunities for long-term and strategic growth will be essential.

You will need to be able to operate with a high degree of independence and initiative so will have to have excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, problem solving and relationship building skills. You need to be excited by customer satisfaction, change, improvement, systems, and details to thrive in this position.
