About the role

Senior Accountant

We are looking for a Senior Accountant to work within a leading Accountancy Practice, you will be responsible for delivering high‑quality accounting, tax, and advisory services to a diverse portfolio of clients within a modern, progressive practice. The role focuses on accuracy, efficiency, and excellent client service while supporting the firm’s growth and adopting new technologies and ways of working.

Key Responsibilities for Senior Accountant

Manage a portfolio of clients across various sectors, acting as a primary point of contact

Prepare and review statutory accounts for limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders

Oversee preparation and submission of corporation tax returns, self‑assessment returns, and VAT returns

Review bookkeeping and management accounts prepared by junior staff

Provide proactive advice on tax planning, business structure, and financial performance

Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements

Train, mentor, and supervise junior team members

Support process improvements and adoption of new systems and technologies

Assist with onboarding new clients and contributing to practice development

Work closely with partners to support strategic initiatives and client growth plans

Skills and Experience Required

ACA, ACCA, or equivalent qualification (or QBE with strong practice background)

Significant experience within an accountancy practice environment

Strong knowledge of UK GAAP and relevant tax legislation

Proficiency with cloud‑based systems such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, and digital workflow tools

Excellent communication skills and a client‑focused mindset

Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently

Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities

Experience supervising or developing junior staff
