The Workers' Compensation Administration assures the quick and efficient delivery of indemnity and medical benefits to injured

workers at a reasonable cost to employers.

Why does the job exist?

This position is responsible for helping protect the benefits available to injured workers by ensuring compliance with workers¿

compensation laws, rules, and regulations governing individual, group, and pool self-insured entities. This position conducts regular financial reviews, audits, and risk analysis of assigned entities to evaluate financial records, financial stability, solvency, and overall compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This position works closely with the Workers¿ Compensation Administration (WCA) and assigned self-insured entities, serving as a liaison and maintaining professional relationships with executives, risk managers, administrators, and other key officials. This role also involves analyzing financial data, identifying potential areas of concern, preparing reports and recommendations, and helping ensure entities maintain the financial strength necessary to meet their obligations.

Perform detailed risk analysis and regulatory evaluations to help ensure compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations.

Review and verify the accuracy and authenticity of assigned entities¿ financial statements, records, and supporting documentation. Balance the responsibility of protecting employee benefits while also recognizing and considering the interests and financial stability of employers. This position is responsible for developing and carrying out examination plans, audit procedures, and audit scopes for assigned entities, while identifying potential risks, concerns, and areas requiring further review.

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing, or Business Administration and one (1) year of directly related work experience in accounting, auditing, finance, and/or budgeting. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling five (5) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver¿s License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending, lifting and reaching may be required. Ability to complete assignments with a high level of accuracy within strict time constraints. Frequent use of office machine and equipment. Must be able to lift 25-30 lbs. Occasional travel may be required. Experience using Microsoft Office applications are preferred.
