Financial Planning Analyst

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Financial Analyst to join a large NSW Government department on a short-term contract of approximately six weeks.

This role will suit a commercially minded finance professional with strong budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and stakeholder management experience who can quickly add value in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering financial analysis, reporting and insights to support decision-making across the business.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver financial analysis and reporting to support business performance and strategic decision-making.

Prepare and review management reports, forecasts and budget submissions.

Provide insightful commentary on financial results, trends, risks and opportunities.

Support budgeting and forecasting processes, including stakeholder engagement across the business.

Develop financial models and business cases to support initiatives and projects.

Partner with senior stakeholders to provide financial advice and commercial insights.

Assist with financial governance, controls and process improvement initiatives.

Support reporting requirements for NSW Treasury and other key stakeholders.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

Significant experience in financial analysis, FP&A, management reporting or finance business partnering.

Strong budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling capabilities.

Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with large and complex data sets.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.

Experience performing detailed balance sheet and cashflow analysis.Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills.

CA, CPA or equivalent professional accounting qualification.

Experience within government or large, complex organisations will be highly regarded but is not essential.
