Student Project Coordinator

Our internships and Co-ops are designed to provide you with a business relevant project that will allow you to independently manage your own area of responsibility, while receiving support from an assigned Supervisor and Technical Mentor. We’ll help you discover your strengths and development areas in a challenging, fun, and supportive work environment. Projects are scoped in alignment with your term length, and typically focus on a current construction project.

We are seeking a student to join us for a 12 month co-op position starting in September 2026. This position will be based out of Calgary, Alberta.

What You Will Be Working On

Project Coordination:

Coordinate drawings and work specific scope/trades.

Review trade quotes, verify material quantities, hours, and rates.

Participate in project meetings.

Conduct deficiency walks and update deficiency logs.

Issue warranties.

Take and coordinate progress photos.

Update field drawings and produce as-built drawings.

Field Coordination:

Perform quantity takeoffs.

Coordinate sub-trade work.

Verify site conditions and coordinate with drawings.

Supervise sub-trade work.

Set up and maintain record keeping.

Layout site lines and grades using total station.

Scheduling:

Update project schedules.

Create manual schedules and update schedules

Obtain scheduling information from sub-trades.

Create and maintain graphical scheduling

Monitor manpower productivity.

What We Are Looking For

You are currently enrolled in Civil, Mechanical, Structural Engineering, or Construction program

You will complete at least one more semester of education following your internship and possess a GPA of 3.0 or higher

Ability to lead and operate within an environment where change happens frequently

Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships

Highly developed interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills

Sense of urgency and strong commitment to achieving goals

Ability to work collaboratively with a positive attitude

Residency, or a valid work permit which would allow you to work for Bird Construction or one of our wholly owned subsidiaries

If you are selected for a role with client specific requirements, you may be required to successfully complete a pre-employment Medical and/or Alcohol & Drug testing.
