The Team You’ll Join
You will join Envestnet’s Platform Engineering organization, a strategic team building the shared cloud platforms, services, and tools that power scalable, high-performing products across the enterprise. As a Principal Engineer, you’ll work alongside senior technical leaders to shape architecture, solve complex challenges, and influence engineering standards at scale - partnering closely with product and engineering teams to drive innovation and long-term growth. he team is focused on advancing modern platform capabilities, including cloud-native technologies and AI-enabled engineering practices, to improve reliability, accelerate delivery, and enhance developer experience.
How You’ll Contribute
Envestnet is seeking a Principal Software Engineer, Platform to help shape and build scalable platform capabilities used across modern engineering teams. This role offers the opportunity to work with cloud technologies, reusable services, APIs, internal developer platforms, AI-enabled capabilities, modular AI components, and agentic coding workflows while influencing technical direction at enterprise scale.
Defines and drives long-term technical strategy and architecture across multiple systems.
Leads large-scale, high-impact initiatives that align with business objectives.
Solves highly complex and ambiguous technical challenges with innovative solutions.
Influences engineering standards, policies, and best practices across the organization.
Acts as a key advisor to senior leadership on technology decisions.
Mentors senior engineers and develops future technical leaders.
Evaluates and adopts new technologies to drive innovation and competitive advantage.
Ensures system scalability, reliability, and performance at enterprise scale.
Champions adoption of agentic coding workflows across engineering teams to accelerate delivery velocity and improve quality throughout the SDLC.
What You’ll Need to Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field required.
10+ years of application, product, or platform engineering experience, including ownership of long-term technical strategy across multiple systems.
Extensive experience defining architecture for scalable, reliable, high-performing enterprise systems and large-scale infrastructure initiatives.
Strong background in platform engineering, cloud platforms, modern deployment models, reusable services, APIs, and internal developer or product platforms.
Experience influencing engineering standards, technical policies, best practices, architecture governance, and organization-wide technology decisions.
Proven ability to solve complex and ambiguous technical challenges and advise senior leadership on technical trade-offs.
Experience evaluating and adopting emerging technologies to improve scalability, reliability, performance, productivity, and competitive advantage.
Strong technical background with .NET, xUnit, Reqnroll, RESTful APIs, and API management solutions such as Apigee.
Experience with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Redis, and ElastiCache.
Experience with AWS services including EC2, S3, ELB, ASG, API Gateway, Lambda, RDS, EKS, CloudWatch, SQS.
Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Kafka, CloudFormation, CDK, Terraform, DevOps practices, automation, agile delivery, Scrum, and test-driven development.
Experience productizing AI capabilities into reusable services, APIs, and internal platforms, including standardized AI pipelines for prompting, retrieval, reasoning, validation, and enterprise reuse.
Knowledge of modular AI components, including agents, tools, evaluators, and composable AI patterns across products.
Experience mentoring senior engineers, developing future technical leaders, and championing agentic coding workflows to accelerate delivery and improve quality throughout the SDLC

Our Investment in You
This role offers a base salary range of $184,200 to $230,300. The range listed represents a good-faith estimate of base salary compensation for this position and does not include incentive compensation, equity or benefits. Individual pay will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location, in accordance with applicable pay transparency laws. This role is eligible for an additional incentive component as part of the total rewards package.
