About the role
In the Vacation Student – Mining Engineer role, you'll gain hands-on experience supporting mine planning and operational activities across our mining operations. Working alongside experienced engineers, you'll contribute to projects that help optimise production, improve efficiency and support safe mining practices.
Some of your work may include:
Assist with short and medium-term mine planning activities
Support drill and blast design and analysis
Contribute to mine scheduling and production reporting
Assist with operational improvement projects
Analyse mining data and identify opportunities for optimisation
Support ventilation, haulage and mining studies
Work closely with engineering and operational teams to support safe and productive mining activities
Program location
Northparkes Operations, NSW
Located 27 kilometres north-west of Parkes in Central West New South Wales, Northparkes is a world-class copper and gold operation and one of Australia's most automated underground mines.
Roster: 5:2/4:3
Included: Subsidised accommodation, flights at the commencement and conclusion of the program, plus return travel home during the festive period.
About you
We're looking for motivated students who are curious, hands-on and keen to grow their technical skills.
You'll be:
Studying Mining Engineering or a related discipline
Demonstrating an interest in mining operations and mine planning
A strong problem-solver with analytical thinking skills
A confident communicator and team player
Willing to live and work in a regional mining environment
Hold a valid manual driver's licence
