We are currently looking for a driven Vice President, Retail Underwriting to join our HSBC Life team in Singapore.
In this role, you will:
Conduct medical, financial and compliance assessment in accordance with the company’s underwriting guidelines and risk framework, adhering to delegated authority limits and service level agreements
Build and maintain strong relationships with partners to collaboratively address underwriting related matters related to risk selection
Support the training and development of junior underwriters, including contributing to internal quality assurance audits to maintain consistent underwriting standards
Review and refine medical, financial and residency guidelines to ensure continued market competitiveness
Provides underwriting expertise and insights for broader company initiatives
Collaborate with stakeholders to gather, document, analyse business requirements, process improvements and workflows
Participate in User Acceptance Testing and validation of implemented solutions and ensuring the delivered solutions meet the specified requirements; Participate in new products and enhancement projects and initiatives
Provide training and support users in using new or enhanced applications or workflow; Create, update, review Standard Operating Procedures
To be successful you will need:
Minimum 15 years of underwriting experience in life, disability, critical illness, accident & health insurance
University Degree or equivalent professional insurance designation preferred (e.g. ALU)
Strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills with understanding of medical, non-medical and financial principles and practices
Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to collaborate effectively
Familiarity with project management methodologies, user requirements gathering techniques, process modeling and documentation
Knowledge and hands-on experience on automated underwriting systems or rules engine
