Welcome to the new, exciting and emerging Clinical Trials Team – an innovative and exciting team at the heart of Healthcare Development. Our team’s focus is to work with 3rd party sponsors to bring clinical research into the community, driving pace and innovation.

What you’ll be doing

As a Commercial Development Manager, you will lead the end-to-end commercial lifecycle, ensuring that our contracts are negotiated, drafted, and executed effectively. You will be accountable for delivering on all commercial deliverables while establishing and managing a pipeline of potential clients. Your role will involve building and maintaining relationships with key decision-makers across external organisations, including pharmaceutical companies, and leading cross-functional delivery to ensure successful contract execution. You will also manage a small team and establish processes within this new and evolving business area.

Key responsibilities

Lead the end-to-end commercial lifecycle, including contract negotiation, drafting, and execution across stakeholders.

Accountable for the delivery of the agreed contract and all commercial deliverables.

Establish and manage a pipeline of potential clients, tracking progress and ensuring timely follow-up.

Build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers across external organisations, including pharmaceutical companies.

Lead cross-functional delivery across internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful contract execution.

Establish processes and governance within a new and evolving business area.

Lead bid defence preparation and manage a small team and wider project teams to deliver contracts.

Manage a small team of direct reports and a cross-functional working team to deliver against the contract.

What you’ll need to have (our must-haves)

Experience in a commercial or business development role, ideally within healthcare, pharmacy, or a related sector.

Strong commercial judgement, with experience developing client propositions and turning ideas into viable offerings.

Experience building business cases and investment papers.

Confident contract negotiation and stakeholder management skills.

Project Management Skills.

Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams to drive and deliver complex projects.

Excellent relationship building with internal and external stakeholders.

Comfortable working in a fast-moving environment with the ability to manage uncertainty and ambiguity.

It would be great if you also have

Experience of working in the Life Sciences industry.

Line Management experience.
