What to Expect
Tesla is looking for a highly motivated data engineer to join the Energy Device Core Software Team with a focus on firmware metrics and analytics. This candidate will work on infrastructure and tools that collect, store, and analyze firmware metrics for Industrial, Residential, and Charging products in Tesla Energy. We work directly with development and service teams, as well as core data teams, on all new and existing components and products. You will own systems for some of Tesla’s newest products that are critical to the mission of accelerating the world’s transition to sustainable energy.
What You'll Do
Design and implement data pipelines from ingestion to visualization to facilitate energy firmware product rollouts to a fleet
Define and build metrics that measure new firmware rollout success
Build automation, developer tools, and internal libraries that accelerate analysis and visualization for energy products
Create visualizations using various tools such as streamlit, etc.
Iterate with engineering and service partners on effectiveness of new datasets
What You'll Bring
3+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering or equivalent
Proficiency in Python and SQL for data processing, automation, and query optimization in production systems
Proficiency in data visualization tools (Tableau, streamlit, etc.)
Experience across the data lifecycle including sourcing, ingestion, transformation, analytics, and visualization
Familiarity with data processing frameworks (e.g., Spark, Airflow, etc.)
Degree in Computer Science, Mechatronics, Electrical/Software Engineering or equivalent experience, with practical software engineering experience or proof of exceptional skills in related fields

Expected Compensation
$120,000 - $252,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
