Job Description
Scope of Position:
The regional manager works to develop business opportunities by performing daily tasks in operations and pricing, working with the Sales team to develop new business opportunities and working with the local management team to achieve company goals and objectives for the Project Cargo Services group. Expeditors Project Cargo Services business consists of both ad hoc heavy and over dimensional cargo and EPC/ project logistic opportunities.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
This position serves in a team management, business development and operational capacity.
Business Development Responsibilities:
General business development of Project accounts that are based within the geographic area of responsibility.
Support the education of Expeditors sales and local product management teams concerning Project Service offerings within the region.
Support the sales and marketing strategies within the region:
Attend sales calls both independently and with existing Expeditors sales staff.
Attend branch sales meetings within the region.
General business development of project accounts that are based within the region (vertical accounts that ship over-dimensional, project cargoes) in conjunction with the vertical business units.
Operational Responsibilities:
Management of Specialized Cargo shipments
Work with various products to facilitate and manage shipments
Planning and execution of shipments managed within the team
Ensure compliance with all internal procedures as well as all applicable government regulations
Compliance with import/ export customs regulations
Knowledge with reviewing commercial & transportation documents
Tracking & tracing of shipments
Document compliance
Onsite support in supervision of loading, packing, and coordination of project moves
Accurate and timely billing
Customer service & relations
Vendor relations
Overseas communications
Qualifications
Skill and Knowledge Requirements:
5 + years’ experience in Project Logistics
7 + years in handling overweight, over dimensional loads via barge, rail, land, air & ocean
Management skills
Knowledge in Export and import regulations with focus in Mexico
Experience in ocean and air charter operations
Strong project cargo logistics management skills
Confident communication skills, both oral and written
Possess a strong sense of customer service and adaptability
Ability to handle daily tasks and projects independently
Attention to detail
Strong problem-solving skills
Bilingual (Spanish & English) both written and spoken.
