Are you passionate about protecting customers & combating fraud & scams? If you're ready to take the next step in your career, Rabobank has an exciting opportunity within our Fraud & FEC Investigations - ANZ team for an Operations Lead, Fraud & Scams Monitoring.
This is a first-line leadership role responsible for leading a team of Analysts & Senior Analysts based across Sydney & Perth. Acting as the critical link between frontline operations & Financial Economic Crime (FEC) leadership, you will ensure the Fraud & Scams Monitoring function operates effectively, efficiently, & in line with regulatory obligations & risk management expectations.
Reporting to the Regional Fraud & Scams Monitoring Manager, this role can be based in either Sydney or Perth.
Key Role Responsibilities:
Lead the day-to-day operations of the ANZ Fraud & Scams Monitoring team, providing guidance & support to Analysts & Senior Analysts
Manage operational escalations, approvals, investigation quality, & team performance to ensure effective risk outcomes
Foster a strong first-line risk culture, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements, internal policies, & governance frameworks
Own & maintain team procedures, controls, & operational processes, ensuring they remain effective & fit for purpose
Deliver operational reporting, insights, & performance metrics to support effective decision-making
Drive continuous improvement & capability uplift initiatives across the team
Partner with regional counterparts to ensure the broader Fraud & Scams Monitoring function operates as a cohesive & effective capability while meeting local regulatory & operational requirements
Support the ongoing optimisation of monitoring, investigation, & customer protection activities
Key attributes & experience we are looking for:
7 + years’ experience leading operational fraud, scams, financial crime, or fraud monitoring teams within a banking or financial services
Team leader / people leader experience with capability for coaching, performance management, capability development, & driving consistent decision-making across a team
Experience managing operational workloads, escalations, SLAs, backlogs, & competing priorities in a high-volume environment
Deep understanding of fraud & scam monitoring, investigations, alert management, & customer protection actions
Excellent stakeholder management & communication skills, with the ability to influence outcomes & collaborate effectively across multiple teams
Strong operational risk & governance mindset, with experience working within highly regulated environments
The ability to make sound, timely risk-based decisions, particularly when dealing with complex or high-risk fraud & scam cases
Experience developing, maintaining, & uplifting operational procedures & controls to ensure they remain fit for purpose
A continuous improvement mindset, with a track record of identifying efficiencies, streamlining processes, & supporting operational transformation
