The Digital Transformation Technologies (DTT) organization leads the development and modernization of Schwab’s applications that support millions of investors. Our teams focus on building highly reliable, scalable, and secure platforms using modern engineering, automation, and quality-first practices.
We are seeking a Senior SDET (Software Development Engineer in Test) who brings deep quality engineering expertise, strong automation skills, and the ability to influence quality outcomes across complex enterprise systems. This role is a hands-on senior technical contributor who partners closely with development, architecture, DevOps, and business teams to ensure quality is engineered into every stage of the SDLC.
What you have
Lead quality engineering efforts within Agile delivery teams
Design, build, and maintain scalable test automation frameworks
Drive test strategy, risk-based testing, and continuous improvement practices
Embed quality into CI/CD pipelines and release certification processes
Collaborate across multiple scrum teams and stakeholders in a distributed environment
Leverage emerging technologies, including AI-assisted and agentic workflows, to improve engineering efficiency
and quality outcomes
Expert-level knowledge of QA practices, including black box testing, risk-based testing, system testing, regression
testing, and exploratory testing
Advanced technical competency in object-oriented programming, with strong experience in C# / .NET
Hands-on expertise with test automation tools such as Selenium or other industry-leading frameworks
Strong experience using the Atlassian tool suite (Jira, Zephyr, Confluence)
Proven ability to partner technically with Application Architects, Developers, QA organizations, and Business
teams
Passion for building scalable solutions through automation, innovation, and continuous learning
Advanced problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts in a simplified,
actionable manner
Demonstrated ability to perform effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong understanding of Agile software development methodologies, values, and practices
Comfort working in a customer-focused environment that embraces modern technologies and techniques
Effective time management skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task
Proven ability to work independently with minimal direction, requiring limited review and rework
Self-motivated team player who collaborates effectively across organizations and geographic locations
Required Qualifications
6+ years of experience in Software Quality Assurance or Software Engineering
5+ years of hands-on experience automating build and release certification tasks as part of DevOps practices and behaviors
5+ years of hands-on testing experience automation workflows
Expert-level knowledge of QA practices, including black box testing, risk-based testing, system testing, regression testing, and
exploratory testing
Advanced technical competency in object-oriented programming, with strong experience in C# / .NET
Hands-on expertise with test automation tools such as Selenium or other industry-leading frameworks

AI & Advanced Engineering Capabilities
Foundational knowledge of AI-assisted engineering concepts, including prompt-driven workflows
Experience or demonstrated ability to use AI/automation techniques to:
o Accelerate test creation and maintenance
o Automate build, validation, and release processes
o Enable agentic workflows that support end-to-end SDLC activities (design, build, test, release, and monitoring)
Ability to AI responsibly to improve quality, developer productivity, and operational efficiency
Preferred Qualifications
Experience collaborating in teams operating under a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) or similar model
Experience working in a closely integrated environment with multiple scrum teams
Experience balancing multiple priorities across a dynamic, geographically dispersed environment
