Key responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of Public Policy & Regulatory Affairs, Southeast Asia, you will support Maersk's public policy and regulatory affairs efforts across the region. Working closely with internal stakeholders and external partners, you will help monitor political and regulatory developments, contribute to stakeholder engagement activities, and support initiatives that advance Maersk's business objectives. This is an exciting opportunity to join a diverse, highly skilled, and collaborative Global Public Affairs team with colleagues based in Denmark, the United States, India, China, and other key markets.

Our Global Public Affairs team tracks political and regulatory developments and engages with governments, authorities, industry associations, and other stakeholders on issues relevant to Maersk's business environment. The team also supports business leaders and functions in their engagement with public sector stakeholders, helping to foster constructive partnerships and informed decision-making.

We are seeking talent to join us in Singapore for this position. You will be responsible for:

Business issues management. Monitoring and mapping of public policy and regulatory issues of relevance to Maersk businesses in Southeast Asia; in coordination with business leaders prioritizing issues based on a value-at-stake approach; monitoring and reporting on developments.

Analysis and advocacy. Develop advocacy strategies, plans and positions to ensure positive positioning of Maersk, as well as effective engagement on the key regulatory and public policy issues important to Maersk’s business. Produce quantitative and qualitative analysis, as well as relevant advocacy material, including background briefings, position papers, and speeches to prepare the participation of executive management.

Coordinate engagement with Maersk business stakeholders. Execution of Maersk’s government relations and public policy activities, including engaging appropriately with relevant key government officials, business associations coalitions and other relevant stakeholders. Furthermore, mobilise and involve senior executives in engagement with external stakeholders when relevant and appropriate.

Maersk Group collaboration. Participate and contribute to the global agenda and tasks of the Global Public Affairs team, especially with the teams in Asia. Furthermore, partner with cross-functional teams including Legal, Compliance, Decarbonisation, Sustainability, Communications, and others.

Monitor Policy developments. Following general political and policy trends across Southeast Asia to support business development and mitigate risks. Analyse and report on these developments when relevant for Maersk’s prioritised regulatory issues.

We’re looking for

7+ years of working experience in public policy/government affairs in South e ast Asia region , either from a role in government/agency, MNC, consultancy or similar.

A Master/bachelor’s degree, preferably in public policy, economics, or political science, or relevant discipline.

A self-starter that takes lead and owns both the process and the outcome, all the way.

Exemplary networking and influencing skills, able to partner effectively and form relationships with peers and management.

Ability to grasp and translate complex issues into a language suitable for concerned audiences in a fast paced and dynamic work environment.

Strong Public Affairs ethics, conducts all activities with honesty and integrity in line with company values, looks out for the best interest of the company.

Highly skilled in written and spoken English, and fluency in a Southeast Asia language is considered highly beneficial
