Description
The Senior / Lecturer (Arts Management) will play a pivotal academic and leadership role in advancing excellence across teaching, research, and professional practice within the School of Arts Management. The role places strong emphasis on practice-informed and industry-engaged research, with particular focus on cultural policy, arts leadership, creative entrepreneurship, and the management of arts and cultural organisations within regional and global contexts.
The successful candidate will demonstrate substantial international exposure in teaching, research, and/or professional practice in the arts and cultural sector.
Roles and Responsibilities
Teaching and Student Development
Undertake 16–20 contact (teaching) hours per week, delivering courses across one or more of the following areas: Arts Management, Arts Business, Cultural Policy, Arts Leadership, Creative Entrepreneurship, Technical Theatre, and Design & Digital Skills.
Design, develop, and deliver module and teaching materials for Diploma in Arts Management, Bachelor of Arts programmes and CET programmes.
Plan, lead, and supervise academic and practice-based activities, including projects, productions, and collaborative initiatives.
Supervise, assess, and provide constructive feedback on students’ assignments, projects, and practical work.
Maintain accurate and timely records of students’ progress, performance, and attendance.
Provide mentorship and holistic academic support, including career guidance and supervision of Industry-Based Learning (IBL).
Teach across programmes within the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Practices or the wider Academy, as required.
Artistic, Academic and Research Contribution
Contribute to curriculum review, enhancement, and the development of academic activities.
Stay current with developments in discipline-specific teaching practices, learning strategies, and industry trends.
Contribute to interdisciplinary teaching, collaboration, and research initiatives.
Engage in practice-based, practice-led, or scholarly research that advances the discipline and informs teaching practice.
Industry, Community and International Engagement
Establish and sustain strong partnerships with industry, arts organisations, and educational institutions to integrate academic learning with professional practice.
Plan and organise excursions, including overseas immersion programmes and study trips.
Foster collaborations that enhance students’ industry exposure and global perspectives.
Administrative Responsibilities
Undertake administrative responsibilities in support of the School, Faculty, and Academy.
Perform other duties as assigned from time to time.
Requirements
Minimum Master’s degree in Arts Management, Technical Theatre, Production Design, or a related discipline. Doctorate is preferred.
Minimum 10 years of teaching and relevant industry experience, with an established track record in research and/or professional practice. We also welcome applications from early-career PhD holders who demonstrate strong research potential and academic excellence.
Ability to teach across a range of subjects within the arts management curriculum.
Strong student engagement and teaching effectiveness.
Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Good analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
Positive, enthusiastic, and results-oriented approach.
