Mechanical Designer – Modular Furniture

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Designer – Modular Furniture to develop production-ready furniture designs and technical documentation for manufacturing. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in CAD software, modular furniture construction, and manufacturing processes, ensuring designs are aesthetically appealing, technically feasible, and optimized for production.

Key Responsibilities

Develop detailed 3D models and 2D CAD drawings for modular furniture, including wardrobes, kitchens, workstations, storage units, and custom furniture.

Prepare manufacturing documentation, including Bill of Materials (BOM), cut lists, panel nesting layouts, production drawings, and assembly details.

Design and integrate sheet metal components, hardware fittings, hinges, drawer systems, sliding mechanisms, and joinery solutions into furniture designs.

Optimize designs for cost efficiency, material utilization, structural integrity, and manufacturability.

Coordinate with Interior Designers, Site Engineers, Production Teams, and Factory Managers to resolve design issues and site deviations.

Review site measurements and incorporate necessary modifications into production drawings.

Ensure all drawings comply with quality standards and approved project specifications.

Conduct pre-production and pre-dispatch quality reviews to ensure manufactured products match approved drawings.

Support the production team by resolving technical queries during fabrication and installation.

Continuously improve product designs by adopting modern manufacturing techniques and industry best practices.

Qualifications & Experience

Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Furniture Design, Interior Design, Product Design, or a related field.

Minimum 7 years of experience in modular furniture manufacturing, furniture engineering, or production design.

Experience in factory-based modular furniture production will be highly preferred.
