Skills and Competencies
1–2 years of relevant professional experience preferred
Solid analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial statements, asset performance trends, and market data
Strong understanding of fundamental credit analysis concepts and financial risk assessment with ability to review and interpret legal documentation such as bond indentures, covenants, and contracts
Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint for data analysis, reporting, and presentations
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English with the ability to present analytical findings clearly
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, collaborative team player with effective interpersonal skills and a proactive mindset, AI familiarity.
Curiosity and willingness to learn Moody’s methodologies and credit rating processes
Knowledge of Python or VBA and previous experience with financial institutions is a strong plus
Education
Undergraduate degree in economics, accounting, finance, business administration, statistics, actuarial science, engineering, or a related field required
Responsibilities
The Associate will support the credit rating process by conducting preliminary analysis across a portfolio of financial institutions, insurance companies, and asset managers under the guidance of senior analysts.
Perform preliminary credit analysis to support ratings, research, presentations, and analytical outreach activities
Analyze financial statements, asset performance, and economic data to support quantitative and qualitative assessments
Evaluate business strategies, financial policies, governance practices, and other key credit factors
Review legal documentation such as bond indentures, contracts, and covenants to understand issuance structures and obligations
Build, maintain, and update financial models, analytical tools, and supporting spreadsheets
Prepare charts, reports, and written analytical commentary aligned with Moody’s methodologies
Identify trends and develop data-driven credit insights using sound analytical judgment
Support ongoing credit monitoring by updating analysis, preparing surveillance data, and escalating potential risks
Assist with routine administrative and ad hoc analytical tasks as assigned by supervisors and collaborate effectively with analysts and associates in a team-oriented environment
Participate in external meetings with issuers, advisors, and market participants as needed
