About the Role:
The Consultant, People & Development is responsible for:
advising, caring for and supporting our secondee team in Brisbane
managing and enhancing the engagement and retention of our team of secondees
contributing to the LOD brand as an employer of choice
providing HR-related support to our secondees, including inductions
assisting with the recruitment processes of our secondees
contributing to initiatives for the Brisbane HQ team
contributing to national P&D initiatives
general office support and administration
Responsibilities:
People Engagement, Development and Retention
Ensuring our secondees in Brisbane feel cared for, appreciated and supported
Managing engagement and culture strategies to ensure we retain secondees and that they are highly engaged and act as effective “ambassadors” for LOD
Being the first point of contact and ‘sounding board’ for secondees to address any logistical queries or secondment issues
Building a strong sense of community and referral network among the secondees.
Managing the process and issuing employment and engagement documentation for secondees, including secondment extensions, notice of end etc.
Managing the process with secondees and clients for secondment extensions.
Processing secondments through Salesforce and Bullhorn, and ensuring all systems and reports are kept up to date.
Coordinating onboarding for new secondee starters, including conducting HR induction sessions, booking Legal inductions and arranging systems set ups etc.
Providing HR-related support and advice to both secondees and the business relating to leave entitlements, remuneration reviews, diversity, performance management, wellbeing etc.
Creating secondee profiles and ensuring on-going updates are added after each secondment
Diarising and conducting regular feedback sessions with Brisbane team throughout secondments, including conducting end of secondment feedback sessions with secondees and also LOD clients.
Managing and keeping in touch with Brisbane secondees towards the end of their secondment and in between secondments to ensure they remain engaged with LOD and available for their next secondment – i.e. managing the bench.
Continuing to drive the secondee love, care and keep in touch program in Brisbane/creating a sense of belonging, which ensures our secondees are continually engaged with the Brisbane business by using multiple engagement strategies including team lunches, individual lunches/coffees, telephone calls and email updates.
Managing secondee love and care activities, including birthday vouchers or gifts/emails, easter competition, random acts of kindness care packages.
Organising, or disseminating relevant information to them such as external CLE events and opportunities.
Promoting EAP engagement amongst Brisbane secondees.
Supporting the Practising Certificate renewal process for Brisbane Lawyers, and other memberships such as ACC and Lexis Nexis.
Managing secondee expense reimbursements including practising certificate and client related expenses.
Working with the wider business to assist and add value to LOD’s secondee engagement efforts.
Events / Office Support
Organising and co-ordinating CLE events for Brisbane Lawyer Team.
Organising key secondee events in Brisbane including mid-year and end of year secondee dinner and other events.
Organising social functions/other initiatives for Brisbane HQ team, including offsites and conferences.
Assisting with secondee engagement of national P&D efforts etc.
Assisting with organising client events.
General office admin as required – stationery orders etc.
Recruitment/Resourcing
With Manager, People & Development, assist with the management of recruitment processes for the Brisbane team which may include:
drafting and posting recruitment advertising
conducting market mapping and linkedin searches for lawyers
assisting with due diligence searches on applicants
assisting with screen calls and scheduling interviews
assisting with reference checks
undertaking due diligence and background checks including fit to work
ensuring regulatory compliance e.g., practising certificates, PI, working rightsetc.
ensuring all applicants, HR information and recruitment stages are recorded in the databases as appropriate in a timely manner
Managing the 360 degree process of recruitment and client secondments for paralegals.
Fostering a strong network of lawyer contacts and referrals.
Contributing to the LOD brand of employer of choice on Linkedin – actively like, share and post
Reporting and Processes
Ensuring all activity and information is promptly captured in the relevant systems
Ensuring Brisbane Overview spreadsheet updated including opportunities, secondments and monthly billing amounts.
Updating Brisbane forecast reports
Assisting with company internal reporting requirements
Ensuring all processes are as efficient as possible and drive continuous improvement of processes.
Facilitating lawyer compliance including liaising with Queensland Law Society as required.
Reconciling and approving payroll and invoices.
Registering on vendor and supplier platforms for invoicing etc.
Completing Labour Hire and Government Secondment Reports.
Other
Regularly checking Linkedin and Seek for jobs, saving jobs to system and reaching out to potential clients to offer support.
Project managing tender processes.
Checking Brisbane office PO Box.

Qualifications / Key Skills Required
Tertiary qualifications in human resources, law or business.
Ideally demonstrated experience in similar role, or a HR or Talent Acquisition role within a law firm or legal recruitment business.
Self-motivated, positive, organised and detail orientated and able to manage multiple and changing priorities.
Intermediate to advanced computer skills including Word, Excel, MS Outlook, PowerPoint and other systems.
Strong interpersonal and communications skills (both written and oral)
