About the role

About the Role

We're a pre-seed AI-powered HR tech startup building tools that connect candidates directly with startup founders and hiring managers - no traditional job applications required. Our small, high-output team moves fast, and we're looking for a mid-level Product Engineer to own end-to-end features across the full stack, integrate AI capabilities into core product flows, and help shape our technical direction as we scale.

You'll work closely with founders, product, and design - with real influence over what gets built and how. This is an on-site role based in San Francisco, CA.

What You'll Do

Own product features from scoping and requirements through to production deployment.

Design APIs and data models; implement both frontend and backend code.

Ship user-facing experiences that balance usability and performance; iterate based on feedback and metrics.

Integrate LLM and AI capabilities into product flows to make intelligent features reliable for end users.

Design and implement scalable backend services, data schemas, and operational tooling (CI/CD, monitoring, testing).

Collaborate directly with founders, product, and design to prioritize work and define success metrics.

Participate in architecture and roadmap discussions; make pragmatic tradeoffs appropriate for early-stage growth.

What We're Looking For

Required (dealbreakers):

2–8 years of software engineering experience with a track record of shipping user-facing products.

Strong full-stack skills: TypeScript and React / Next.js on the frontend; Python or Node.js on the backend.

Experience with PostgreSQL (or similar relational databases) and cloud platforms (AWS or GCP).

Strongly preferred:

Practical, production experience integrating LLMs or AI services into applications (engineering-focused, not research).

Comfort operating in small teams with limited process, high ambiguity, and context-switching across frontend, backend, and DevOps.

Ability to design and implement end-to-end features including API design, data modeling, and production deployment.

Nice to have:

Experience with real-time systems and scaling high-throughput applications.

Familiarity with AI-assisted development workflows (e.g., Cursor or similar).

Experience building multi-tenant or enterprise-ready systems.

Background in regulated industries (healthcare, fintech, legal) or building complex internal tooling.

Note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $150,000 – $300,000 USD annually, depending on experience.
