About the role
Senior Principal Ergonomist
Join us to do the best work of your career as a Senior Principal Ergonomist within Dell's Experience Design Group in Singapore. This is a highly strategic, enterprise-level leadership role that serves as the global ergonomics authority for Dell and Alienware display and peripheral products - spanning monitors, mice, keyboards, headsets, webcams, and accessories.
What you’ll achieve:
You will help define and drive the long-term ergonomics vision and Center of Excellence (CoE) strategy across product lines, applying advanced biomechanical modeling, computational ergonomics frameworks, and science-based assessment methodologies. You will be accountable for influencing product architecture decisions at the earliest stages, and partnering with senior leaders across Experience Design, Engineering, Operations, Product Management, Legal, and Procurement.
This is not solely a hands-on assessment role - it is a role that shapes the future of human-centered product design across Dell's entire peripheral and display ecosystem, setting global standards, mentoring teams, and representing Dell as a thought leader in the ergonomics community.
Strategic Ergonomics Leadership
Lead the Ergonomics Center of Excellence (eCoE) strategy for Dell and Alienware display and peripheral product categories, driving multiple cross-functional global ergonomics risk reduction and design optimization initiatives.
Be accountable for ergonomics goals, and work closely with senior leaders across Experience Design, Engineering and Product Planning.
Define the multi-year ergonomics goals and benchmarks for peripheral and display products, anticipating emerging user needs, workplace trends, hybrid work evolution, and gaming performance demands.
Represent Dell externally at industry conferences, standards bodies, and academic partnerships as a recognized thought leader in product ergonomics.
Advanced Research & Biomechanical Analysis
Plan, lead, and execute large-scale multi-method research programs that inform strategic product decisions, including surveys, interviews, ethnographic methods, usability studies, concept testing, longitudinal studies, and advanced quantitative analysis.
Apply advanced biomechanical modeling and computational ergonomics frameworks to quantify musculoskeletal disorder (MSD) risk factors and develop engineering controls - with analyses that directly influence the design of future product architectures, form factors, and interaction paradigms.
Leverage advanced proficiency with digital human modeling software such as 3DSSPP, Siemens Process Simulate Human, Santos, or Jack to validate product designs at scale.
Perform and interpret quantitative and qualitative ergonomic assessments using methodologies such as RULA, REBA, OCRA, and custom frameworks tailored to display and peripheral product use cases.
Operate as the principal ergonomics voice at product concept reviews, architecture decisions, and design critiques - ensuring ergonomic principles are embedded from the earliest ideation stages through mass production.
Partner with automation engineers, industrial designers, UX researchers, mechanical and electrical engineers, operations leaders, and safety professionals across global studios.
Drive ergonomic innovation for Alienware and Dell branded Display and peripherals, addressing unique demands such as high-performance mouse grip/form factor optimization, mechanical and low-profile keyboard layout studies, ultrawide and high-refresh-rate monitor posture implications, and headset weight distribution for extended gaming sessions.
Develop customized productivity solutions to reduce physical strain across Dell's commercial product line, ensuring enterprise-grade peripherals meet the needs of diverse global workforces and accessibility standards.
Standards, Governance & Thought Leadership
Define, maintain, and evolve global ergonomic design guidelines and standards specific to display and peripheral product categories for both Dell and Alienware brands.
Understand how AI, automation, and emerging technologies impact human-machine interaction and workflow efficiency, and integrate these insights into product strategy.
Create and maintain an ergonomics knowledge base and design toolkit that enables industrial designers, engineers, and product managers to apply ergonomic principles independently in day-to-day work.
Stay current with the latest ergonomics evaluation tools and techniques, equipment, peer reviewed research, international standards (ISO, ANSI/HFES), and regulatory requirements across key global markets.
Mentorship & Team Development
Mentor and develop human factors researchers, and UX designers across global studios, building organizational capability in ergonomics.
Design and deliver training programs to educate internal teams - including Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, and Product Management - on ergonomics principles, tools, and best practices.
Foster a culture of evidence-based, human-centered design thinking across the Experience Design Group.
Data-Driven Program Management
Manage, analyze, and communicate ergonomics program results, ROI, and strategic impact to senior leadership, including VP and C-suite stakeholders, leveraging AI-generated insights and automated reporting pipelines.
Develop and maintain dashboards, KPIs, and metrics to track ergonomic improvements and user comfort outcomes across product portfolios.
Design and maintain real-time, AI-enhanced dashboards integrated with machine learning models to predict ergonomic risk trends, forecast user comfort outcomes, and surface actionable opportunities across product portfolios.
Drive intelligent decision-making by harnessing large language models (LLMs), predictive analytics, computer vision, and advanced statistical tools (Python, R, cloud-based ML platforms) to transform complex biomechanical and sensor-driven data into compelling executive narratives and automated insight summaries.
