Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Accountant to support our day-to-day financial operations. This role is ideal for someone who is flexible, well-educated in accounting principles, and has gained practical experience through internships or practicum placements. The successful candidate will play a hands-on role across multiple accounting functions, including payroll administration using Payworks, and must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
Responsibilities
Maintain accurate financial records across financial statements
General ledger journal entry and management
Prepare monthly and year-end financial reports including Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and Cash Flow Statements
Perform bank and account reconciliations
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
Process invoices, payments, and expense reports
Accurately maintain, track, file, and pay taxes (GST, PST, etc.)
Administer payroll using Payworks, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations
Maintain employee payroll records and handle payroll-related inquiries
Manage amortization and accrual statements
Accurately cost and manage inventory in collaboration with the procurement and sales teams
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow tracking
Support external accountants during tax filing and audits
Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulations
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency
Assist with the implementation and management of Stratum’s ERP, NetSuite
Experience
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred
Practical experience through internship or practicum
Working knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft 365 Office Suite
Proficiency in ERP and accounting software (Ideally NetSuite)
Experience with or willingness to learn Payworks payroll systems
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in a small business environment
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism
