Role Summary

Equinix is seeking a Principal DevSecOps Platform Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and evolution of secure, scalable, and intelligent DevSecOps platform capabilities within the Engineering Excellence (E3) organization.

This role will drive enterprise-scale CI/CD modernization, platform engineering initiatives, security automation, and AI-enabled operational workflows supporting multiple engineering organizations across Equinix.

As a highly visible Principal-level Individual Contributor, this position is expected to make a material impact across the Engineering Excellence organization and influence how applications are built, secured, and delivered throughout the Digital Infrastructure Organization (DIO). The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in platform engineering, cloud-native DevSecOps, secure software delivery, and AI-assisted automation while operating independently across large-scale technical initiatives.

Responsibilities

Platform Engineering & CI/CD

Architect, build, and scale enterprise CI/CD platform capabilities and reusable workflow frameworks.

Drive modernization of software delivery and platform engineering practices across engineering organizations.

Support Kubernetes-based application platforms and distributed systems environments.

Partner with engineering teams to standardize secure and scalable DevSecOps practices.

Security & Governance

Lead implementation of Secure SDLC, shift-left security, and policy-as-code frameworks.

Integrate SAST, DAST, and SCA security tooling into software delivery pipelines.

Drive automation for vulnerability management, secrets management, and compliance enforcement.

Collaborate with Security and Infrastructure teams to improve governance and operational security standards.

AI / GenAI Automation

Design and implement AI-enabled DevSecOps and developer productivity solutions.

Build and operationalize RAG pipelines and agent-based automation workflows.

Develop intelligent remediation capabilities leveraging code, logs, telemetry, and security signals.

Implement secure and governed LLM integration patterns using modern AI platforms and frameworks.

Evaluate and optimize AI-enabled operational workflows for reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency.

Technical Leadership

Define and influence technical direction for platform engineering, DevSecOps, and AI automation initiatives across Engineering Excellence.

Drive adoption of engineering standards, platform capabilities, and secure software delivery practices across multiple organizations.

Operate independently across cross-functional programs and complex engineering environments.

Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering standards and best practices.

Collaborate across Security, Infrastructure, QA, SRE, and Software Engineering organizations.

Partner with senior engineering leaders and architects to improve developer productivity, security posture, reliability, and delivery effectiveness.

Required Qualifications

Core Engineering & DevSecOps

12+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, DevSecOps, SRE, Cloud Infrastructure, or related domains.

Strong hands-on expertise building enterprise CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar tools.

Strong software engineering background with proficiency in Python, Go, Java, or Node.js.

Deep understanding of:

Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)

Kubernetes and container ecosystems

Infrastructure as Code

Distributed systems and microservices architectures

Strong understanding of SDLC, testing, release engineering, and developer platform ecosystems.

Security

Strong knowledge of Secure SDLC and DevSecOps principles.

Experience implementing SAST, DAST, SCA, and policy-as-code frameworks.

Experience with IAM, secrets management, governance, and compliance automation.

Proven experience driving shift-left security initiatives.

AI / GenAI

Practical experience leveraging LLMs in engineering or operational workflows.

Experience building:

RAG pipelines

Agent-based workflows

AI-assisted automation capabilities

Understanding of:

Embeddings and semantic search

LLM governance and security risks

Responsible AI implementation practices

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with AIOps and observability platforms.

Familiarity with MLOps pipelines and model lifecycle management.

Experience with enterprise developer platforms and engineering enablement tooling.

Knowledge of Zero Trust architecture and compliance automation frameworks.

Exposure to AI governance and operational risk management practices.

Success Measures

Measurable reduction in manual security and operational effort through automation and AI-enabled workflows.

Increased adoption of standardized platform engineering and secure delivery practices across engineering organizations.

Improved application and infrastructure security posture through automation and governance controls.

Faster and more reliable software delivery through modern platform capabilities and AI-assisted operations.
