About the role

Group Operations enables the Bank to operate with an efficient, agile and scalable infrastructure, with a strategic focus on productivity, quality and control, operating models, technology and people. As a core part of the Bank’s operating platform, Group Operations manages a broad range of operational processes and works closely with business partners to deliver seamless banking services across multiple channels.

The Operations Risk and Control team plays a critical role in identifying, assessing, mitigating and monitoring operational risks across GFMO. This role requires a strong understanding of operational risk management principles, a proactive approach to identifying process and control gaps, and the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders across functions and locations.

Responsibilities

Identify, assess and analyse operational risks across GFMO regions, and develop appropriate risk mitigation actions to address identified

Monitor the effectiveness of existing controls through regular risk reviews and risk assessments, including RCSA, Annual Risk Approval and ICAAP, and recommend enhancements to strengthen the control environment.

Conduct and review risk assessments for new or revised policies, standards, products, processes and GenAI-related initiatives.

Prepare and present risk reports to business and risk forums, covering operational incidents, key risk indicators and metrics, and operational risk issues.

Perform root cause analysis on risk events to identify lessons learnt and drive effective preventive and corrective

Keep abreast of relevant jurisdictional regulatory requirements, supervisory expectations and industry standards to support GFMO’s compliance with applicable risk management obligations.

Collaborate with GFMO Group and regional processing teams, as well as key stakeholders including Front Office, Risk Management Group, Technology, Operations COO Risk, Audit, Legal and Compliance, to identify and address operational risks, support implementation of new or revised bank policies and standards, and drive risk and control initiatives, including risk landscape reviews.

Promote a strong risk-aware culture and continuous improvement mindset through risk-sharing workshops, focused learning initiatives and practical control awareness activities.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional qualification.

Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience, preferably in operational risk management, controls, operations or a related field.

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, with the ability to analyse and present information clearly.

Familiarity with treasury systems such as Murex, Front Arena and Treasury Zone, and knowledge of Treasury & Markets products and end-to-end operations processes across the trade life cycle.

Strong understanding of risk management principles, including risk assessment, control design, control testing and implementation of remediation actions.

Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a sound risk and control mindset and the ability to challenge risk gaps and recommend practical solutions or remediation plans.

Effective written and verbal communication skills, with a proactive, collaborative and team-oriented working style.

Good stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to engage senior management on risk matters and support informed decision-making. Experience in cross-functional or cross-departmental collaboration is an advantage.

Comfortable working with large data sets to identify potential risk indicators, areas of concern and opportunities for data-driven control enhancements.

Experience or familiarity with Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools and Microsoft Copilot will be an added advantage, particularly in applying technology to improve productivity, risk insights and control effectiveness.
