Job Description

The Development Manager will play a key role in supporting the NUS Business School’s strategic fundraising efforts. This position will involve reaching out and managing relationships with donors and prospects. It will also involve coordinating fundraising activities and identifying new opportunities for engagement and support. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic and strategic thinker with a passion for advancing educational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Fundraising

Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising initiatives to support the School’s priorities

Manage and coordinate giving campaigns

Collaborate with the team to identify and pursue new gift and funding opportunities

Facilitate all phases of the gift cycles, including initiating contact, face-to-face visits, cultivating relationships, moving potential donors to solicitation and closure, and stewarding donors

Create and present compelling solicitations and proposals to potential donors

2. Donor Relations and Stewardship

Build and maintain strong relationships with individual and corporate donors

Coordinate stewardship activities to acknowledge and recognise donor contributions to ensure a positive donor experience

Organise events and initiatives to engage potential and existing donors

Prepare impact reports to update donors on progress

3. Prospect Research and Management

Conduct research and analysis on donors/prospects to determine giving interests and potential as well as funding sources

Compile databases/lists for prospect identification and lead generation

Track industry, education and philanthropy-related news that could impact giving

Maintain an updated database of prospects and manage donor records

Develop and implement strategies for donor cultivation and stewardship

4. Gift Administration

Support the team in gift processing and administration

Prepare reports and presentations for leadership and stakeholders

Track and analyse data on fundraising progress and outcomes

Other duties as assigned by the Office

Qualifications

A degree holder with at least 5–10 years of relevant work experience in fundraising, or strong transferable skills in key account management, business development, sales or marketing, with a proven ability to build relationships, engage stakeholders, drive strategic initiatives, and support revenue-generating or donor-focused efforts.

Fundraising or similar capacity is advantageous.

Experience in higher education or in philanthropy will be a plus.

Proven track record in successful fundraising or selling to individuals and or/organisations

Skilled relationship builders and able to manage a mixed portfolio of individual, corporate, and prospective donors

Strong listener with excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and organisational skills

A high degree of customer service orientation

An ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality with respect to prospects and donors’ information

Experience in market research, database/portfolio/CRM management and Salesforce is desirable

Creative problem-solving and good project management skills

Internet savvy with proficiency in fundraising software and Microsoft Office suite

Motivated and able to work under pressure

Able to work independently or as a team
