Student Recruitment Specialist
Position Summary
The Recruitment Specialist, reporting directly to the Student Recruitment Coordinator, works closely with internal and external partners to advance Red Deer Polytechnic’s domestic enrolment goals by executing a comprehensive recruitment strategy. Key responsibilities include planning and delivering recruitment activities; building and maintaining relationships with prospective students, families, secondary schools, and community organizations; and supporting learners’ progression from prospect to applicant to enrolled student.
This role requires the ability to work independently and brings a high level of flexibility, creativity, initiative, and collaboration. Success in the position depends on strong relationship building and interpersonal skills to effectively connect the recruitment team with faculty, internal and external stakeholders, and prospective students. With a solid background in marketing and events, the incumbent contributes expertise that supports meaningful engagement with target audiences and strengthens recruitment efforts.
This position may require flexible work hours and domestic travel.
Position Responsibilities
Recruitment
Develop, coordinate and deliver presentations, workshops and resources to prospective students.
Outline event needs, plan and execute event strategy, and other recruitment events as required.
Recruit and convert leads to achieve enrolment targets and strategic enrolment goals.
Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team to promote and market recruitment events and initiatives to students through a variety of promotional vehicles.
Deliver on campus tours.
Develop material for self-guided campus tour.
Support the delivery of organization-wide events.
Deliver information sessions and activities both on and off campus.
Assist in the planning and coordination of the annual Counsellor Update Breakfast.
Represent Red Deer Polytechnic and liaise with other schools/organization at both on and off campus events.
Develop and maintain working relationships with high school counsellors, career advisors, external training and education providers, prospective students, parents/guardians, and external audiences.
Maintain a database of recruitment events.
Complete cost benefit analysis on recruitment events to measure effectiveness and efficiency.
Recommend ELAA events that Red Deer Polytechnic should attend.
Research recruitment initiatives at other educational institutions within Alberta and Canada
Use creativity to develop recruitment initiatives to generate applications and increase conversion.
Engage qualified leads, coordinate and execute outreach campaigns to persuade prospective students to apply and enroll.
Measure the impacts of recruitment activities and events to inform future planning.
Coordinate inquiry management with larger marketing team.
Respond to inquiries made in person, by phone, email or mail in a timely manner.
Community Events & Tradeshows
Keep up to date on general RDP information, including programs, application requirements, admissions processes, continuing education and summer camp information to promote RDP to the community.
Attend community tradeshows, like Agri-Trade, local Career Fairs, etc. to promote RDP in the community.
Manage inquiries received from community events.
Support larger Marketing & Communications initiatives and events as required.
Required Qualifications
Two (2) years of post-secondary training, completion of a community college certificate including trades apprenticeships or equivalent such as Diploma or degree in Marketing, Communications or Public Relations, Business, Event Planning, Psychology.
2 to 3 years of relevant experience.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office 365 suite.
Preferred Qualifications
Four (4) year undergraduate degree, or three (3) year undergraduate degree plus one full additional year of university in a related program representing four years of study or equivalent.
Flexibility: ability to multi-task, adapt to changing priorities and prioritize projects.
Great customer service skills and communication skills.
Outgoing, strong presentation skills.

Additional time off due to Institution closures between Christmas and New Year general holidays.
Eligibility to access the above mentioned benefits is dependent upon the AUPE Collective Agreement and related RDP policies.
