WaveLight GmbH is a global leader in developing and producing innovative laser systems for use in eye surgery, as well as surgical planning and image guidance for cataract surgeries. Since 2009, WaveLight has been a wholly-owned subsidiary of Alcon, enabling gentle and highly precise correction of vision impairment.
As a Senior Software Engineer (m/w/d) supporting our Surgical R&D Team, you will contribute to the development of innovative software solutions for WaveLight and VARION products at our Teltow, Germany location. Due to the growing number of development projects, we are expanding our local team and are looking for a software engineer who will work closely with our existing development experts in a collaborative international environment.
In this role, a typical day will include:
Developing, maintaining, and enhancing software applications for medical devices using C# and C++ in a Windows-based environment
Collaborating with local and global engineering teams to deliver software solutions supporting WaveLight and VARION products
Participating in software design, implementation, testing, debugging, and release activities throughout the product lifecycle
Working with software frameworks such as Qt and contributing to software architecture discussions and technical improvements
Supporting software development activities in a regulated medical device environment while ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory requirements
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:
Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline
7 years+ of experience in software development
Strong programming skills in C# and C++
Experience developing software applications in a Windows-based environment
Experience with Qt is highly desirable
Experience in the Medical Device Industry or another regulated environment is a strong advantage
Understanding of software development lifecycles, testing methodologies, and software release processes
Fluent in English; German language skills are preferred
Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills
