About the role

Basic Qualifications :

Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field, plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree, plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position:

Key Responsibilities

Customer-Facing / Subject Matter Expert

Serve as the primary customer interface - gather and clarify requirements while providing context on how and why the customer uses the product.

Act as the point of contact for customer outreach across the program.

Provide on-the-ground insight for requirements gathering and identification of program growth opportunities.

Leverage deep knowledge of the CWITT and CVN shipyard test programs, including cadence, stakeholders, and key roles (Test Directors, JTG Chair, Lead Test Director, IPT, etc.).

Understand and articulate the rationale behind the test program - the "why," not solely the "what."

Support business development efforts with warfare centers and shipyards through established stakeholder relationships.

Product Owner / Scrum Lead

Process customer requests and define scope prior to implementation by the development team.

Evaluate in-sprint progress of development teams to ensure alignment with requirements and schedule.

Provide routine status updates to fellow leads and customers.

Contribute to and guide the technical direction of the program.

AI / Technical Contributions

Apply experience with AI tooling and workflows to support program planning.

Develop and refine prompts and AI configuration files.

Assist with AI-driven planning tasks across the program.

Bridge technical depth with program knowledge to deliver well-informed product decisions.

Geographic / On-Site Requirements

Must maintain a local presence in the Chesapeake, VA area.

Willing to provide on-site presence at both St. Julien's Creek and Newport News offices.

Willing to travel between program sites as needed, including Electric Boat and Manassas.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field.

Minimum 5+ years of experience in systems engineering or related discipline.

Experience with naval combat systems, shipyard test programs (CWITT, CVN), or equivalent DoD programs.

Demonstrated ability to interface directly with government/customer stakeholders.

Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and product ownership.

Active DoD security clearance required.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with AI tooling, prompt engineering, and AI-assisted workflows.

Knowledge of warfare center and shipyard stakeholder ecosystems.

Experience supporting business development activities.

Familiarity with Electric Boat and/or GDMS program environments.

Location

Chesapeake, VA (primary) | Newport News, VA | Travel required to Electric Boat and Manassas, VA sites.

Salary Note: This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary.
