About Us

RICS is a global professional body shaping how land, property and infrastructure are developed and managed. We set the standards that build trust in the built environment, supporting professionals to deliver work with integrity and impact.

Our members are at the heart of this, advising on how land and property is used, valued and developed, and helping to shape the world we live in.

If you are motivated by using insight and evidence to support better decisions, this role offers the opportunity to play a meaningful part in how RICS continues to develop a more modern, global and data led approach to regulation. As Head of Insight, Performance and Planning, you will use high quality reporting, assurance and analysis to support decisions made in the public interest.

Role Purpose and Key Responsibilities

You will lead the insight, performance and planning function for Standards and Regulation, playing a visible role in how we use information to understand performance, manage risk and plan ahead. Your work will give senior leaders and governance bodies the evidence they need to make clear, confident and well informed decisions.

This is a role for someone who enjoys leading people, solving problems and turning complex data into practical insight. You will work with colleagues across regulation, data, digital and operations to improve data quality, strengthen reporting and make better use of technology and AI where it adds value.

This is a hybrid role based in Birmingham, with 60% of your time spent in the office and 40% remote.

What you will do:

Turn complex performance, assurance and risk information into clear reporting for the Standards and Regulation Board, executive leadership team and senior stakeholders

Provide insight that helps shape strategy, business planning and decision making

Translate complex data and insight into clear, accessible messages for non technical audiences, helping senior leaders and stakeholders understand what the information means and what action may be needed

Develop regulatory intelligence, market analysis and management information relating to regulated members, firms and regulatory activities

Identify, monitor and report on strategic and operational regulatory risks, including leading the development of the Regulatory Risk Outlook

Improve how regulatory data is managed, reported and used in practice, including through technology and AI

Build trusted relationships with senior leaders, governance groups and specialist teams so insight is used in a practical and meaningful way

Lead data sharing arrangements with external organisations, ensuring information is managed appropriately and in accordance with relevant agreements

Lead, develop and support a team of analysts and data professionals, creating the conditions for them to do their best work

About You

You may already be leading an insight, intelligence, performance or data function, or you may be ready to step into a broader role where your judgement, leadership and analytical skills can have greater influence.

You will be comfortable working with complexity, asking thoughtful questions and communicating insight in a way that helps others understand what matters and what needs to happen next.

What you will bring

Experience leading a data, intelligence, insight or performance function within a regulatory, professional, policy or commercial environment

A track record of improving how data, reporting and processes work in practice

Experience identifying, assessing and reporting strategic and operational risks

The ability to provide clear analysis and reporting that supports confident decision making

Clear communication and presentation skills, including experience reporting to executive teams, boards or governance bodies

Experience leading and developing teams

The ability to build effective working relationships and operate successfully across multiple functions and stakeholder groups

Experience using reporting and analytical tools, including Power BI or similar platforms

Experience developing forward looking risk analysis, sector outlooks or intelligence products would be beneficial

Rewards and Benefits

We want you to feel supported in and outside work. Our benefits include:

Private medical insurance, income protection and life assurance

Aviva Group Personal Pension scheme

25 days' annual leave plus public holidays and an office closure over Christmas

Enhanced family leave policies, wellbeing and volunteering days
