Martec is seeking an ambitious and commercially focused Business Development Manager to drive sustainable and profitable sales growth across our key markets, including Aerospace, Defence, Oil & Gas, Automotive, and Industrial sectors.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced sales professional who thrives on developing strategic customer relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and delivering measurable commercial results in a technical manufacturing environment.

Working remotely, you'll play a pivotal role in expanding our presence within existing key accounts while securing new customers across global markets.

About the Role

As Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for delivering sales targets across Martec's product portfolio and new product introductions. You will manage a diverse sales pipeline, develop long-term customer relationships, and act as the primary commercial interface between customers and internal teams.

The role offers significant international exposure, requiring regular customer visits, attendance at industry events, and overseas travel.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver sales revenue and profitability targets in line with company objectives.

Develop and implement growth strategies focused on customer satisfaction and commercial success.

Grow business within existing strategic accounts while identifying and securing new customers.

Build, maintain, and manage a robust sales opportunity pipeline.

Meet regularly with customers and prospects to identify opportunities and strengthen relationships.

Conduct customer visits, attend company events, and represent Martec at industry exhibitions worldwide.

Forecast sales and order intake, reporting on progress, risks, opportunities, and business plans.

Provide market intelligence and demonstrate expertise in industry trends, technologies, and applications.

Collaborate with Internal Sales and operational teams to ensure exceptional customer service and timely responses.

Promote new products, technologies, and services, coordinating customer training where required.

Produce regular sales reports, including pipeline activity, order value, margins, customer engagement, and lead generation metrics.

Maintain a thorough understanding of Martec's products, services, and competitive landscape.

Manage sales performance through KPI monitoring and reporting.

Contribute to key business processes, including CRM management, S&OP activities, strategic planning, and budgeting.

Location: Remote (UK) with occasional visits to Martec's Whitstable HQ and customer sites

Reporting to: Sales & Marketing Director based in the UK

About You

Essential Skills & Experience

Proven experience in business development, account management, sales, or a similar commercial role.

Demonstrated ability to build, develop, and maximise customer relationships.

Experience creating and delivering growth plans and commercial strategies.

Strong negotiation skills with the ability to manage complex, high-value contracts.

Experience managing multiple sales opportunities and maintaining an active pipeline.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and sales analysis tools.

Excellent presentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Ability to analyse sales performance data and identify opportunities for growth.

Desirable

Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related discipline.

Experience within a technical sales, engineering, manufacturing, or industrial business environment.
