Position: Senior Product Development Manager

Location: Nashua, NH

Amphenol High Speed Products Group is the market leader for high speed, high bandwidth electrical connectors for the Telecom/Datacom market (Mobile Networks, Storage, Servers, Routers, Switches, etc.). Our products help to enable the electronics revolution and remain a key enabler for all the major Tier 1 OEMs globally. Our global headquarters are located in Nashua, NH and we have design, sales and manufacturing locations globally.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

High speed external cable assemblies enable most of the world’s IT and datacom; including leading the way for the AI/ML revolution; and require some of the most advanced manufacturing technologies, and highest levels of precision, in the engineering world. These challenges require the most creative, technical minds, and ultimately provide the most rewarding experience for an engineer. The Senior Product Development Engineering Manager role will be to provide leadership for all cable designs, development, and production implementation. The position will require the oversight of a highly experienced team of Engineers. Detailed responsibilities will include:

Directing department activities to design new products, modify existing designs, improve production techniques, and develop test procedures. This includes assemblies with passive connections, linear active amplifiers, DSP retimers, and optical cables.

Communicating and working with customers and internal product managers to understand product requirements and performance specifications and convert those into new product designs, production tooling, manufacturing processes, qualification testing and the transfer to volume production sites.

Ensuring the accurate and timely completion of engineering tasks of engineers within the group.

Overseeing and mentoring electrical, mechanical, and software/firmware engineering teams, providing needed training and working with team members to grow within the organization.

Coordinating with peers and other engineering managers within the organization to share best practices and continuous improvement activities.

Conferring with management, production, and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products.

Forecasting operating costs of department and directs preparation of budget requests.

Advising management of new developments which may affect profit, schedule, costs, customer relations, and/or inter-departmental relations.

Maintaining a working knowledge of new technologies which may improve operations and developing recommendations accordingly.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor of Science degree in an Engineering discipline, Masters degree in Engineering or MEM/MBA preferred

5+ years of experience in Engineering Management or Project Management, with at least 3+ years of leading a technical team

Experience with connectors and cables preferred

Experience with active external cables (AEC), preferred

Ability to travel domestically and internationally, as needed

SKILLS:

Strong facilitation and team-building skills; the ability to integrate the needs & skills of many functional disciplines to achieve a positive outcome

Attention to detail, while maintaining perspective on top-level goals

Ability to prioritize work to meet objectives and to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Ability to articulate, outline, and follow a development process
